Hello Summoners and fellow Hivians!

Hope we are all doing very well and enjoying splinterlands battles. For this weeks splinterlands engagement challenge, I am delving into an intense battle where **Global Warming and Close Range** teamed up to test my adaptability under pressure and heat. The battle field was hot, blazing, and with abundant of Mana. It was an intense one between I and my opponent. Let’s go straight into business. Starting with the Ruleset.

Global Warming

All monsters take 1 damage every round with a -2 effect from the burn. It is very crucial to have monsters with healing and sustain. But with every round comes inflicting damage, and timing becomes everything. Monsters with healing, armor and damage mitigation tend to thrive longer under such rulesets.

Close Range

Ranged attackers have the ability to fire from any position provided they are still alive. This puts powerful range attackers on equal level, even on top cause they can cause damage from the back, middle line and front roll. Hence useful from start to finish. Unlike under other rules where they become useless when they end up in the front.

Mana Cap (60)

A very huge mana cap providing a huge pool for both teams to bring in some of the very best foundation monsters in their collection. Looking at the turn up of monsters, the mana was fully utilized.

Now going on to the team Line Ups starting with mine then we move to that of the opponents.

My Line Up Strategy

Summoner Aurelia (Fey)

An Archon with the ability to grant extra health of 1 to her monsters. Helping them survive beyond the usual time they were supposed to and this was very crucial in a battle such like this, where the main opponent is Global Warming. Hence this extra health point can make all the difference between lasting collapsing earlier or lasting longer than expected.

🔥 Battle Summary

At the beginning of the first round, everyone was expecting a burn effect. But before that there were several exchanges. I strategically placed New Beluroc Aegis (Minotaur) at the position to be the savior of the game. He has the ability to draw all attacks towards him. An until he is off the match, no other member monster gets a single hit. My up liners Dread and Great Bear traded heavy blows with the magic debuff beast Nim Guard. Both monsters lost armors in the process and on top of that a Global Warming effect. Just the #round-1 had great effects on both teams. The extra heath point from Aurelia was taken by Archon Thalgrimore (Fiend). And on top of that -1 healthpoint from Sorrow Harvester. I had -2 Health Point to all member units even before the start of the battle.

But thanks to the close-range effect, Kicking Roc was very useful throughout the match. By round 3, both teams had lost their frontlines. Great bear took over from my side whiles same for him. It was now a battle between two Bears. It was a face off of weak and exhausted battle warriors. Both teams had lean health points.

The turning point actually was the round 4. There were few exchanges, and that was it, the two Bears had fallen. It was left with my two backlines. Magic attackers from both sides and Ranged attackers each also on both ends. Then just at the beginning of round 4, there was a burning effect causing everyone to fall, leaving the last man standing-Time Bandit.

Final Outcome, Victory for Aurelia and the Fey Legion! 🏆🔥

Reflection on Strategy

This battle did teach me some valuable lessons about ruleset combos. Which includes but not limited to:

1. Health is Power in Global Warming; every single HP Points counts. It is very good to use summoners that grants additional health points to member units. And it’s even much more strategic to get a team that has Weaken Ability like what my opponent’s team has- “Sorrow Harvester”. If not that I picked team monsters like Team Bandit and Dread that has heal and cleans ability, to keep restoring live, like that would have been a great catastrophe.

2. Ranged isn’t weak, especially in battles like this were Kicking Roc displayed throughout.

3. Endurance, Balance and Offense can affect the outcome of the battle, especially under Global Warming, battles can easily flip. That is If a team lack sustain.

So far, Global Warming is one of the ruleset I found very fascinating. Sometimes, I can feel the pain my monsters go through during such burning effects. I have adopted to the use of monsters that can restore health and cleanse. The higher the sustain the closer to victory.
