Hello Splinterland Warlocks,
In splinterlands, victories often goes to the entire team with raw damage or overwhelming sustains that brings about the bragging rights. But sometimes, just a single card can put up an act of resilence, evasion and special timing which can turn the tide completely. In just a recent match under the rulesets “Counterspell and What Doesn’t Kill You”, with a mana cap of 44, the fire Monster Scales of Justice didn’t just play around but showed of with some amazing dominance and team leadership which paved a way for an overwhelming win.

The Rules of the game

Counterspell
Adds Magic Reflect to every unit in the battle. Damage done to a unit is partly reflected back to the attacker if its magic. In this match, it mostly punished any magic‐based attempts, but since both teams leaned toward ranged physical attacks/ mele, there was no such impacts on any one.

What Doesn’t Kill You
Gives Enrage to units once they take damage. That means once a frontline unit is hit, it gains bonus speed and melee damage. Very dangerous if an opposing melee bruiser can survive early hits, such a disaster it would be for the offensive.
Relevant Abilities

Lets take at look at how this monsters ability puts him ahead of all the monsters in this particular battle ruleset.(Round By Round)
#Round-1
Scales of Justice starts in the frontline with a Speed of 4, and thanks to Barthalamas additional +1 Speed totaling 5. It acts before or just in alignment with the other units. Chaos Furybringer quickly unleashed a sneak attack on Dread- the opponents frontliner breaking down his Armor. It made room for other monsters to easily penetrate causing drastic damage from just some few strikes from Ash Archer, Sturdy Axe Warden and Vengeful Monk. Dread was able to revive and came back with an offensive attack on Scales of Justice but it was a failed attempt. Yet the other team units rallied behind delivering drastic attacks of all kinds. Of which most made impact ending up eliminating one of my team members on the go, even before the end of round 1. It sent a shock waves into the spines of the other members, and my frontliner was left with just 2 health even before round 1 will end. Scales of Justice takes hits but because of Dodge, a good number of attacks missed.
#Round-2
I knew the down fall of my frontline in the end of my team. Just when my team and I where about giving up home, the magic master showed of like never before. It as if it had reserved the speed for this particular moment. When everything seems about crushing down. Just after all the thoughts on the possibility of a loss, Scale of Justice had almost doubled in speed having a speed count of 8. My team quickly responded with their very best of strikes; Ash Archer, Sturdy Axe Warden and Vengeful playing a crucial role, ending up with the downfall of the Lion King Dread Tafarian.
#Round-3
Scales is not only durable at this point in time but invincible, and evasive more than ever. It might have been left with just 2 health counts but become very strong under the Enrage Ability. Many attacks directed at it now still misses because of Dodge and Speed advantage, and forcing opponents to waste attacks. Meanwhile, Ash Archer, Sturdy Axe Warden and Vengeful and Frankarsgard hammering through the weakened front, finishing off the opponent’s frontline and middle line.
#Round-4 n the rest
Scales of Justice became totally invincible. Not even a single scratch. The Earth monsters where no match for him. From miss unto miss, meanwhile my backers were causing the needed damages. This is how it went till all the Earth monsters where eliminated. All thanks to Scale of Justice with such an incredible Monsters. I never knew it had such a power, to became totally invincible in a battle when used in the right ruleset. Victory was assured after a coupe of rounds( Ended in round 6). Such a show off from my MVP Scales of Justice.
Why Scales of Justice Was MVP
High Evasion (Dodge PLUS Possibly Flying) – the ability to avoid most attacks puts the opponents into confusion and distortion of flow and team plan. The strategy wont work no matter what due to the failure to achieved a target in every round.
Frontline Withstanding Pressure – the front role position made it absorb most of the attacks from range and melee, and most missed (About 80%), rendering them effectless.
Synergy with Barthalamas +1 Speed Ability – acting much earlier than the opponents in the start of every round yielded benefits from Enrage, Dodge, strikes and even putting pressure on the opponents forcing them into defensive mode.
Ruleset Amplification (What Doesn’t Kill You) - once Scales of Justice took some hits, Enrage kicks in, boosting speed to 8 hence faster than all the monsters on both sides.
Denial of Opponent's Key Sustain - Dread Tafarian is dangerous because of lifesteal. Without landing hits, Tafarian couldn’t heal. Scales of Justice evasion starved him of sustain, making him a liability in the frontline.
This was not just a victory out of sheer offensive alone but a win out of precision, timing and durability. Scales of Justices maneuvered like the snake he is and got the desired victory for the team making him more than just a tank. Every move of a Dodge was a statement. Every failed attack of my opponents chipped away their morale and ability to sustain. Untrained Monsters can be very deadly when deployed in the right ruleset battles and positioned well.
