Hello splinterland warlocks, greetings everyone, hope this season is ending on a good note at your sides. That is the wish for us all. Well, here comes another challenge for the week and as usual, I will be sharing a post on related battle on frontier to this new challenge.

For this weeks splinterlands community engagement challenge: The Ruleset Revelation. I happened to face off with a tough but yet exciting ruleset combos. Lost Legendries and Global Warming with a 31 Mana Cap. As we all know, #Frontier-Mode allows for all elements. Just that this ruleset made this particular battle limited to just Rare and Common monsters. Rulesets are ways of testing a player’s creativity and understanding of battle strategies. And this particular battle reminded me of something special, proper positioning can be a contributing factor to a glorious victory.
But, how about we take a look at what transpired during the showdown? Let’s break it down from where I selected my team against my opponents till when my strategy worked.

#Rulesets:

#Global-Warming
Just imagine having the taste of a fire burn within every round of battle. A ruleset worth the hype. Global warming causes -2 damage to every monster on each side of the battle field. Making it a necessity to pay key attention to the choice of monsters, fragile monsters will cost the team a lot of damage. Survivability is crucial during ruleset as such.

#Lost-legendries
A team can only summon Rare and Common monsters for the battle. Levelling the creativity within the means by which monsters are selected for the battle. Basically, no legendry monster can be used in this particular game.

#Mana-Cap
Not high, not low; mana cap of 31. This allows room for strong tanks and a few decent backlines to level up for the showdown. But not enough to bring onboard all the desired strong monsters.

My lineup : Summoner Aurelia

  1. Dread Tafarian (Tanky Monster) – A very useful monster for occupying the front role. With a good amount of health and an ability. Truly perfect for absorbing the Global Warming damage.
  2. Time Bandit- A magic attacker with the cleanse ability-adding +1 life to the frontline after each round. Delivering a -1 damage to its victim. Good for middle or backline.
  3. Kicking Roc- A mana cost-efficient bruiser, providing -3 damage to its victim from the back- A range attack.

Oponents Line (Summoner : Aurelia)

  1. Spellmonger- strategically placed in the frontline was to be a thorn in my frontlines flesh is a non-train monster.
  2. Dread Tafarian- placed just behind the Spellmonger to come in later after the harm has been done to my frontline.
  3. Vengeful Monk-Backline, normally useful in causing a -2 melee damage to its victim.
  4. Vicious Quilliun – a very tough monster capable of punishing with a melee attack.

Let the Game Begin!!!

The round of the battle started with my team having the upper hand - Kicking Roc did a strong swing causing the Spellmonger to lower its Armor. The battle continued with exchanges and just some few exchanges into the first round and Spellmonger was nowhere to be found. Spellmonger could not survive the pressure that comes with standing at the frontline she it’s not a tank but just a non-trainable monster who deals -2 thorns damage to melee attacks. By the end of the round 1, there was a burn which affected everyone causing -2 damage to except My tank monster Dread Tafarian. Positioning him in the frontline at the start of the game gave him an upper hand over my opponent’s monster Dread Tafarian: suffering a -2 damage as well.

Round two was such a heat round, with several exchanges. Kicking Roc was eliminated just after some rounds. Then another Global Warming effect drop affecting everyone this time round. Even my Dread was not spared. But its healing ability added some more life-giving hope to my team. But just after that my whole team was down with just The Lion King standing tall – A one man army it was at this point. Trust me at this point I knew I had lost. I skipped the battle and to my surprise I was victorious. I came back to see what the hell just happened. The Ruleset worked in my favour due to the right positioning of monsters.

At the start of round 4, there was another devastating Global Warming effect bringing down everyone, and at the end, two Lions left behind to battle it out. It was now a square off battle for the fittest. There was another effect which led to a fatal down siding of my opponent. It was such a terrific battle and a near fall for me. It was a close one.

Frontline positioning is critical in every Ruleset especially in Global Warming. Spellmonger on my opponents’ side was a fatal mistake that cost him the victory. Under such Rulesets, a non-trained monster is best fit at the middle or backline. Causing it to be eliminated sooner than expected.

Wisely placing a tank monster will be of great benefit to the team. Hence putting a frontline like Dread will greatly impact the team. It’s a bad idea to push squishy attackers like Spellmonger into the first slot unless the opponent also makes bad selections.

Do not over invest in healers cause they aint always gonna be that effect in a ruleset like Global Warming. Unless it’s a self-healing tank if not they will be wasted under a Ruleset.

To conclude with, it’s good to pay attention to the Ruleset and alien with it. In a Ruleset like global warming, think safety first. Your cards might be strong but placing them in the right positions also matters. Especially, when thinking survivability. Misplacing a monster like Spellmonger in this match was gonna do no better.

I on the other hand, i had a favorable game outcome because the Ruleset aliened with my monsters. And played out well. At the end of the day, Splinterlands is about more than just cards, it is more about strategy, adaptability, and understanding the ruleset at hand. And in this fiery showdown, strategy won the day!!!! 🔥
