Good day, everyone and Splinterlands community, today I will be sharing one of my commonly used cards in Modern battles, the Dragon Egg Forager. I’ve been having some winning victories using it, and it’s one of those cards that feels simple but can turn the tide of a match when used right. The Rebellion reward cards have really grown on me, once you get them leveled up, they become solid picks for Modern grind sessions. And now, with the Conclave Rewards coming into play, we’ve got a whole new set of cards to explore from the Glint Shop.

They’re not cheap, but they add a nice layer of balance and strategy to the game. If you’ve already built up your Rebellion deck, this is a great time to start experimenting again, test out new combinations, figure out what works, and see just how far you can push these new cards in your battles.

The Dragon element in Splinterlands has always been one of my usual or common picks because of how flexible and reliable it is in almost any kind of battle. What makes it really stand out is that you can pair it with any other element, giving you endless options to build the right lineup for the rule set you’re facing. When I use Dragon Egg Forager, that flexibility becomes even more useful. The Opportunity ability can able to target the lowest-health enemy, which is perfect for taking out fragile support units or sneaky backline damage dealers before they can cause real trouble to my team. I usually mix the Dragon element with Life for extra armor, Earth for more sustain, or Fire when I want to go full offense. That’s what makes Dragon Egg Forager so satisfying to use, it fits almost any setup and often changes the flow of the fight. The Dragon element simply gives you the freedom to adapt, surprise your opponent, and control the battle on your own terms.

This match featured the rule sets Counterspell, Odd Ones Out, and Equal Opportunity, with a 17 mana cap and only Earth and Death available to play since Fire, Water, and Life were inactive. With limited card choices under Odd Ones Out, I decided to center my lineup around Akane Archon. Its Ambush ability gives me a solid early advantage. The flexibility it offers lets me make the most of my available cards. I placed Halfling Refugee in the front as my main tank to absorb hits. I put Broken Earth Thug in the second position to deal extra melee damage and take advantage of Opportunity. My Dragon Egg Forager is put in third slot, acting as the main melee attacker of my team and also carrying Opportunity to target the weakest enemy of the opponent. At the last slot budget mana, I positioned Ujurak Elder to provide a speed boost for my whole lineup giving my team a more chance of attacking first. This edge often decides who strikes first. The goal of this setup is simple, with the use of a mix of speed and Opportunity synergy to wear down the opponent quickly before they can gain momentum.

My opponent used Sheng Xiao Archon, a Legendary Dragon Archon from the Conclave Arcana set. This was supported by Halfling Refugee, Taye Loreswift, Lucky Longshot, and Dragon Forager. The opponent formation looked strong the Taye Loreswift’s Inspire and Piercing abilities boosted the team melee power and helped them punch through armor easily. From the beginning, I knew it wouldn’t be an easy fight because they had the damage advantage and a balanced team. Still, I was confident that my Ambush advantage and Opportunity-focused lineup could apply pressure or overhelm the opponent. The real live question is whether my team’s combo strategy and timing would be enough to turn the tide against a stronger opponent.

As the near end first round, my team’s momentum quickly took over as the Ambush ability gave me the upper hand from the start. It allowed my main attackers to strike before the opponent could respond. Both Halfling Refugee and Taye Loreswift from the other side were taken down almost instantly. This completely shifted the pace of the match in my favor. Thanks to my team’s superior in speed difference, the opponent barely had a chance to respond, the opponent Halfling Refugee and Taye Loreswift are also overwhelmed, and even though a Poison Burst triggered after those eliminations, it wasn’t enough to turn things around. At that point, I already knew victory was within reach.

By the time the third round began, my Dragon Egg Forager was the last card on the battlefield. It secured the win with its Opportunity and Scavenger abilities. Each fallen unit helped it grow or increasing its health and letting it resist lingering effects like poison. The combination of survivability and relentless offense made it clear why this card shines so well in prolonged fights, It doesn’t just survive and win, it thrives as the fight continues.
