La ciudad de los gatos, Estambul
No recuerdo, cómo ni cuándo, pero si se que buscando información en Internet encontré un video que hacía referencia a como tratan y la importancia que tienen los los gatos en Estambul. Obviamente la información me llamó la atención, lo que descubrí me encanto y vengo a compartirlo con ustedes.
La ciudad de Estambul es llamada la ciudad de los Gatos, la razón es sencilla en ella hacen vida aproximadamente 120.000 gatos en condición de calle, pero todos y cada uno de ellos es tratado con respeto, pueden ir a donde quieran, son alimentados y cuidados.
En la ciudad de los gatos, los mininos pueden dormir en sillas de restaurantes, sobre los autos o en las piernas de las personas, entrar en casas sin ser invitados, entre otros.
Estambul desde su fundación es una ciudad portuaria y se presume que los gatos llegaron en barco a esta famosa e histórica ciudad. En tiempos Otomanos eran muy comunes las casas de madera y las ratas buscaban hacer de esas casas la suya, así que, para mantenerlas a raya los gatos eran el mejor aliado, pero porque en tiempos modernos los gatos continúan siendo tan cuidados y hasta pueden robar en el mercado, sin problema alguno, pues está relación puede que tenga que ver con el Islam.
Mahoma y Muezza
Ahora bien, para entender un poco mas esta relación narrare dos historias que no se que tan ciertas sean sobre Mahoma y su gata Muezza, la primera cuenta que un día, mientras Mahoma estaba sentado escribiendo, su gata Muezza se durmió sobre la manga de su túnica. Mas tarde el profeta fue llamado para un acto importante y él para no despertar a Muezza cortó la manga de su túnica. No le importo presentarse al acto público con una manga sí y una no, porque su gata era más importante. La otra historia relata que en una ocasión Mahoma estaba orando y una serpiente que entró en su aposento, intentó atacar al profeta y su gata atacó a la serpiente.
Para el Islam los gatos son tan limpios que pueden entrar en las mezquitas, y en el caso de esta ciudad incluso habitan y son cuidados., en muchos lugares de culto.
Celebridades
En Estambul, dos gatos han sido celebridades uno de ellos ya murió y su nombre era Tombili (por gordito), un gato en condición de calle que vivía en Ziverbey; en el barrio de Kadıköy. Era tan querido en la comunidad que al morir el Alcalde decido conmemorar e inmortalizar al gato y se elaboro una estatua de bronce en su honor.
El otro gatito celebridad es Gil, quien vive en una mezquita, convertida en museo, ubicada en Santa Sofía, su salto a la fama se debe a que fue acariciado por el expresidente de EEUU, Barak Obama.
Alimentación y cuidados
Los Gatos de Estambul son alimentados por los ciudadanos y les cuento que en el presupuesto del ayuntamiento todos los años el presupuesto es suficiente para la alimentación, creación y mantenimiento de albergues e instalaciones donde los gatos puedan pasar la noche y ser alimentados.
De la misma manera, los habitantes les construyen refugios o compran casas para que puedan refugiarse en las calles de la lluvia y del frío en el invierno, además de esto si llegarán a enfermar existen veterinarios estadales que los atienden gratuitamente, son vacunados y los machos esterilizados.
Para hacer un resumen los gatos forman parte de Estambul y sus residentes no imaginan la ciudad sin ellos. No se tu, pero yo sería feliz si visitará Estambul.

Cat City, Istanbul
I don't remember how or when, but I do know that looking for information on the Internet I found a video that referred to how cats are treated and the importance of cats in Istanbul. Obviously the information caught my attention, what I discovered I loved and I come to share it with you.
The city of Istanbul is called the city of the Cats, the reason is simple in it approximately 120,000 cats make life in street condition, but each and every one of them is treated with respect, they can go where they want, they are fed and cared for.
In the City of Cats, the kittens can sleep in restaurant chairs, on top of cars or on people's legs, enter houses without being invited, among others.
Istanbul has been a port city since its foundation and it is presumed that the cats arrived by boat to this famous and historical city. In Ottoman times, wooden houses were very common and rats sought to make those houses their own, so, to keep them at bay cats were the best ally, but because in modern times cats are still so cared for and can even steal in the market, without any problem, as this relationship may have to do with Islam.
Mohammed and Muezzin
Now, to understand this relationship a little more I will tell two stories that I don't know how true they are about Mohammed and his cat Muezza, the first one tells how one day, while Mohammed was sitting writing, his cat Muezza fell asleep on the sleeve of his tunic. Later the prophet was called for an important act and he, in order not to wake up Muhammad, cut the sleeve of his tunic. He didn't mind showing up at the public event with a yes and a no sleeve, because his cat was more important. The other story tells that on one occasion Muhammad was praying and a snake entered his room, tried to attack the prophet and his cat attacked the snake.
For Islam, cats are so clean that they can enter mosques, and in the case of this city they even inhabit and are cared for, in many places of worship.
Celebrities
In Istanbul, two cats have been celebrities one of them already died and his name was Tombili (for chubby), a cat in street condition that lived in Ziverbey; in the neighborhood of Kadıköy. He was so loved in the community that when the Mayor died he decided to commemorate and immortalize the cat and a bronze statue was made in his honor.
The other celebrity cat is Gil, who lives in a mosque, converted into a museum, located in Hagia Sophia, his jump to fame is due to the fact that he was petted by the former U.S. President, Barak Obama.
Food and care
The Cats of Istanbul are fed by the citizens and I tell you that in the budget of the city council every year the budget is sufficient for the feeding, creation and maintenance of shelters and facilities where the cats can spend the night and be fed.
In the same way, the inhabitants build them shelters or buy houses so that they can take refuge in the streets from the rain and the cold in the winter. In addition to this, if they get sick, there are state veterinarians who take care of them free of charge, they are vaccinated and the males are sterilized.
To sum up, cats are part of Istanbul and its residents cannot imagine the city without them. I don't know about you, but I would be happy if you visit Istanbul.
