En mitad de la Bahía de Algeciras en la provincia de Cádiz se encuentra la desembocadura del río Palmones.
In the middle of the Bay of Algeciras in the province of Cadiz lies the mouth of the Palmones River.
El río divide las localidades de Los Barrios con Algeciras y las playas del Rinconcillo con la de Palmones. Sus arenas rubias y el agua cristalina forman un espectáculo cuando está la pleamar y se adentran a las marismas del río. Con la bajamar ocurre lo contrario y el río devuelve ese agua con parte dulce y otra parte salada.
The river divides the towns of Los Barrios and Algeciras and the beaches of Rinconcillo and Palmones. Its blond sands and crystal clear water form a spectacle when the tide is high and they go into the marshes of the river. At low tide the opposite happens and the river returns the water, part fresh and part salty.
Como el buen refrán dice, los pescadores son los que ganan de estas aguas revueltas y aprovechan para pescar caballas que se adentran en la marisma para alimentarse.
As the good saying goes, the fishermen are the ones who profit from these troubled waters and take advantage of them to fish for mackerel that enter the marshes to feed themselves.
El agua del río Palmones llega a la Bahía después de recorrer parte del Parque Natural de los Alcornocales con agua limpia y pura, pero con mucho alimento para la fauna marina. Justo de frente a la desembocadura está la sombra del peñón de Gibraltar.
The water of the Palmones River reaches the Bay after crossing part of the Alcornocales Natural Park with clean and pure water, but with plenty of food for the marine fauna. Just in front of the mouth of the river is the shadow of the Rock of Gibraltar.
