Hello, I'm coming back today, and I have something to tell you. I was lost around here I just started because a personal matter modified my entire life plan, I suppose it is part of living in Venezuela, in a pandemic and in this particular time in history where everything changes so vertiginously.
Ahora bien, en mi presentación les conté que soy escritor, ya ahora no lo digo con dudas, pues siempre fui preso de la duda y el miedo, decir eso era sostener algo tan improbable, ¿cómo ser escritor? ¿Cómo sostener aquel título? ¿Qué tenía yo además de aquellas publicaciones en distintas revistas que me llevarán a pensar que podía decir yo soy escritor? Siendo que yo lo quise ser desde siempre, en mi primer recuerdo ya lo deseaba, por eso digo desde siempre.
Now, in my presentation I told you that I am a writer, and now I do not say it with doubts, because I was always a prisoner of doubt and fear, to say that was to hold something so improbable, how to be a writer? How to sustain that title? What did I have besides those publications in different magazines that will lead me to think that I could say I am a writer? Being that I always wanted to be, in my first memory I already wanted it, that's why I say always.
In Venezuela there is a publishing house called Monte Avila Editores, it is the oldest in the country, and it deserves to have published some of the best writers we have had, a year ago I won the award for Unpublished Authors of Las Formas del Fuego It bears that name in honor of José Antonio Ramos Sucre, one of our greatest poet and the prize consisted above all in the publication of my first book of poems, which is called If you pretend to return.
Well, a year has passed, and the book has come to life, that is, it exists physically and will initially have a thousand copies. The award ceremony took place in the triptych room of the National Assembly of Venezuela, I was with friends and colleagues whom I deeply appreciate and it was an event that served to compensate in my heart for the strange way in which this year was burning my efforts..
Among the friends was Miguel Antonio Guevara, a person that I perceive as a teacher and an older brother. I have tremendous affection and admiration for him, and this year his book was also given to him for the Mariano Picón Salas essay award, which I assure you must read.
In addition to that, I had the opportunity to present a book with the publisher that I belong to, which is called Madriguera, despite how complicated this year has been, everything has become the pinnacle of what I have been looking for for so long, and for which I have worked passionately.
Life is strange, it has given me wonderful things to compensate for the pain of what can no longer be and that is why it makes me want to live it more. I plan to continue writing and striving, to create something that will definitely change what is broken in my society, even though that may sound a bit ambitious, I think that ambition is what allows us to go a little further.
And that is why I can say that I am a writer, this has been the path that I have decided for myself, and for which I plan to continue until the end of my days, I am happy to be able to share it with you, and those who Have the pleasure of supporting me vote for me in this publication, I thank you in advance for everything, a hug and then I will continue telling you.
