¡Hola, amigos Hivers! Quizá muchos de ustedes hayan visto alguna vez una telenovela brasileña llamada Xica Da Silva, cuya trama se centra en una esclava que vivió como reina, pero ¿te has preguntado si realmente existió y cómo fue su vida? Si es así, no te preocupes que hoy te hablaré de ella.
Hello, Hivers friends! Many of you may have seen a Brazilian soap opera called Xica Da Silva, whose plot centers on a slave who lived as queen, but have you ever wondered if she really existed and what her life was like? If so, don't worry, I'll tell you about it today.
Francisca Parda nació en 1732 en Minas Gerais, Brasil, era hija de una esclava llamada María Da Silva y su dueño, Antonio Caetano, un hacendado portugués. Este hombre no la reconoció como hija legítima (algo bastante natural en la época) simplemente la trató como lo que era, es decir, su esclava.
Francisca Parda was born in 1732 in Minas Gerais, Brazil, she was the daughter of a slave named María Da Silva and her owner, Antonio Caetano, a Portuguese landowner. This man didn't recognize her as a legitimate daughter (something quite natural at the time) he simply treated her as what she was, that is, his slave.

A pesar de que por mucho tiempo, la imagen de Xica fue usada como un icono de la comunidad afrodescendiente, y como un símbolo de rebeldía, o una mujer que luchó por la igualdad, realmente, según con los registros, ella fue una mujer que renegó de su raza para cumplir con los estándares de la alta sociedad brasileña de su época, no obstante es algo un poco entendible en alguien que ha sufrido tanto, aunque creo que hubiese sido mejor que, con su dinero e influencia, hubiese ayudado a los otros negros, liberándolos o al menos, no maltratando a sus esclavos. ¿Qué opinan ustedes?
