Para comenzar debemos conocer el significado de "miopatía" basicamente son todas aquellas enfermedades que afectan al musculo, dentro de las miopatías inflamatorias encontramos la dermatomiositis, afeccion que provoca una gran inflamacion a nivel de los músculos acompañada de manifestaciones cutáneas.
La dermatomiositis se caracteriza por ser de origen autoinmune, recordemos que las enfermedades autoinmunes son aquellas en donde nuestro sistema inmunológico afecta por error a los propios tejidos del cuerpo, esta enfermedad puede afectar tanto a niños como adultos, el desarrollo de la debilidad muscular en este caso es progresiva por lo que afecta la calidad de vida.

Cabe destacar que es una afeccion no muy comun, sin embargo al no poseer cura con el tratamiento y manejo adecuado se pueden controlar los signos y sintomas cutáneos ademas de reforzar los músculos del cuerpo y mejorar la calidad de vida.
