La pericoronaritis es una afectación que suele afectar a los niños, adolescentes y jóvenes donde van a predominar un arsenal de bacterias anaerobias, estas bacterias carecen de oxígeno siendo las responsables de la mayoría de las patologías de origen infeccioso en la cavidad bucal, afecta al periodonto.

Se debe asistir a consulta odontológica para establecer un diagnóstico y plan de tratamiento, evaluar en el paciente los hábitos de higiene y los irritantes locales que esté posea ya que se tiene una higiene bucal mala se debe fomentar y educar buenos hábitos. El examen radiográfico es primordial para poder determinar si la pieza dentaria se encuentra cercana al nervio importante y la posición que está tenga también sí está se encuentra con una caries muy profunda.
The patient should attend a dental consultation to establish a diagnosis and treatment plan, evaluate the patient's hygiene habits and any local irritants that he/she may have, since oral hygiene is poor. The patient should be educated in good oral hygiene and good oral hygiene habits should be encouraged and taught. Se debe realizar una profilaxis dental con previa técnica de anestesia para remover toda esa placa bacteriana qué es el principal foco infeccioso, en caso de algún acceso se debe drenar para dejar salir toda esa secreción purulenta, se debe prescribir analgésico y antibiótico para posteriormente realizar la extracción dental en caso de ser necesario y así eliminar por completo el foco infeccioso.
