RE: Hive vs Steem Stats - Saturday, July 4, 2020

Do you think many investors are looking at either Steem or HIVE? I dont think so. Both chains have their own problems. HIVEs problem is the lack of professionalism. All of us have to push our influencers, whales and witnesses to start working together with us the community to fill in the gaps of marketing, community onboarding (sales essentially), technology creation (whatever is required to onboard a new community). Essentially we need to become more professional and start thinking and acting as a business.

Good questions. There is a Hive Marketing community building. I would hope they can find people with the talents we need and some funding to get the word out. Check out @hivepeople.

thanks for the mention.
We just formed the discord channel, so we need as many committed people, and talented ones also to join it. We are looking for people who know marketing really well to join us.

Yes, I know them, at least for their work to try and get new users onboarded. Though this is not what I meant with marketing and sales and onboarding communities. Their work is predominately focussed on individuals onboarding other individuals. In the world of internet so many communities exists. These shall be approached, the creators of those communities and sometimes also the technology they us. We shall start selling HIVE the them and offer all our support in transiting their community to HIVE, and create the technology when required (this could be some bespoke integration); Whether they gonna use HIVE frontend, or keep their own frond=tend with the backend being HIVE, that depends on the situation and the wishes of those communities, creators and what the technology allows. This is how any business operates, and for a reason! Even Facebook operated/s like that. This requires organisation and funding. You may think: Anybody can organise and we have HPS for funding, but I'll tell you: Its mighty hard to get attention of some of the big whales. I tried with various of them; None of them responded to my post comments, discord p2p messages. Witnesses are also quitet when I approach them, or do not play ball. I personally have some interesting people in my network (from acquaintances to friends) working with companies in key positions that have lots of money (entertainment, dance and am talking about the big ones playing ball throughout the world as well as social network space incl Patreon) but I can only seriously approach them with something compelling when I'm supported on all business aspects required, including development of technology, creation of marketing material, support in discussions and all. I worked with startup companies before, tried one or two myself together with partners, and run some projects from the ground up to finish. This costs a lot of time. Time I'm only investing when this is properly compensated. But to get support, is the major problem here at HIVE. I leave all these ideas shelved for the moment, try to forget about it to not get too frustrated on the current situation in our community and the - at least for me - closed circle of people doing whatever they do with their powers but not responding to my triggers to them. Very unfortunate :( I get more and more the feeling this community doesn't want to organise themselves. When we don't, HIVE is not gonna be relevant in the future. BTW, where is SMT? Really? We pay 1000 HBD a day for some image server pffffff And another 30k to someone who helped onboarding some exchanges.... No results in HIVE value though. And then this 3k HBD for some 'stupid' HIVE icon, if that'll make the difference and attracts 10s of thousand relevant users to HIVE.

Migrating existing communities could be key. It's an uphill struggle and the last of progress over years has been frustrating. We all gain if it works out.

I dont see it working out for HIVE. Total lack of organisation (you may not have read me updated comment before in which I added what the real situation is at HIVE). No serious company will build something on HIVE today, that's for sure. Lack of business owners and in my few also the none existence of SMT, the vulnerability of the chain itself (hostile takeovers are still very much possible). So when we want serious companies to use HIVE, we have to approach them and we have to sell this to them, and we have to create whatever needs to be created. To be very specific, I have contacts with one of the most innovative dance/entertainment organisations in my country running at least 10 large festivals a year with a turnover of 10s of millions (maybe evenmore then 100 million) and experimenting already for some time with crypto based loyalty; Perfect candidate to try and get HIVE chain involved. Whatever concept I thought of, first of all I need SMT, than I need solution architects, and developers who can build business critical applications and integrations next to a super stable chain without outages and tools without outages. When we have all of that organised, I'll tell you, we can make real business! So many opportunities out there, but first things first, organisation... but that is something that may not be possible.

I hear you. Feel free to join the Hive Marketing Discord that formed recently. It's still forming, and we have some of these areas you mentioned with seperate channels. We have a Referral campaign coming up in a few weeks, and we'd love to have you onboard with it. Here is the Hive Marketing discord: https://discord.gg/7yYFEq3

I'll check it out, but as mentioned I dont believe in onboarding users one-by-one with or without referral programs. We tried organic growth already for more than 4yrs and not much happened. Referral programs won't change things. We peaked when BTC peaked a few years ago, and since then its all downhill. We need other methods to grow HIVE, either by onboarding complete communities (eg HIVE plugin into existing communities which requirs tailormade integrations), or by getting Apps integrated with HIVE (this could be gaming but could also be payment systems incl credit card). All this requires proper business approach to the market, people who can do this, people who are motivated enough, architects and developers, and funding. That said, the core of the chain needs to implement some of the roadmap features, and some that are not really discussed yet. When I spend time on bringing HIVE to the next level (other than all the work I already put into HIVE), I'm gonna focus on the business side of things.

it sounds like a good plan for sure. I agree with much of what you said, but we can also do marketing as well.
