Hivers in India

in Hive Statisticslast year

After my previous post about Ireland I had a request to query for those in India. The country has a population of about 1.4 billion with 50% reckoned to be online. That gives Hive a lot of potential for growth. From what I have seen and heard cryptocurrencies may be regulated there. It seems crazy for a large country to ban its citizens from using this technology. I expect people can update me on the situation.

This list is based on querying various terms using @hivesql looking for accounts active in the last month. People can put what they want in their Hive profile, so it is bound to miss some. I would suggest that someone use this as the basis of a country list to which they can add people as they find them. I can provide code to turn that into a post. I do this with the #BritList each month. For that I have about 700 people on file, but most are inactive.

It would be great to see lists like this for more countries that get updated regularly. I think monthly is often enough as the numbers may not change too quickly and we do not want to spam people with mention notifications. If you need help starting a list then give me a shout.

Hello steevc

Good job. I am glad this time you have chosen stats about India. Thank you so much.

We had trouble previously but government Imposed 30% tax slab. I think everyone is in a bit stress. A reduce in slab will be help people for people.

Thanks once again man.

You are most welcome. I was hoping there would be more, but India is probably in the top 10 of active countries. Lots of potential for growth.

Hello friend #Steeve!
First would like to say thanks for bringing collective Indian user together. I already ReHived it so that I can check them one by one later. No doubt Wazirx, Binance feeling lonely without Indian user🙃. Huge tax concerned everyone. From previous few month I did not login on Binance or Bittrex. In case of Indian digital currency I don't think that it is going to make any impact over crypto users. Crypto road map going tough for Indian users..
Thanks again for posting about Indian user.

You are welcome. I find these statistics interesting. I see a lot of people talking about the crypto tax, but anything you earn on Hive is a bonus as most of us will not earn much online elsewhere. I hope to see many more join up with options to spend $HIVE directly. Together we can make it happen.

!BEER

I do agree with your terms that we cannot earn much elsewhere than Hive. Hive showed me the real utility of time with earning money, interacting with the people of aboard and gaining knowledge. Sure with the job working on Hive is like a bonus. Feeling proud being the part of such wonderful decentralize community. Yesterday evening I was reading few post from HiveFest7 and found very potential things about a great Guitarist. Ofcourse it is You friend Steve. I also came to know about some great Hiveans by face whom I know till now with their only name.
Thanks a lot friend for great input..
Have a nice day 🙏🙏

Meeting other Hivers is always good fun. I hope you can do it too.

I have been using Hive since beginning! Happy to have know some fellow Indians from this post. Good work buddy! Cryptos are not regulated in any way here. It's just a loot by government as they taxed crypto earnings at 30% straight and 1% TDS for each transaction on a crypto exchange. Can you imagine getting 99000$ crypto after buying 100000$ worth crypto. Volumes on Indian exchanges have declined by 85% since last year due to same reason.

That must be a pain, but then we tend to pay some sort of premium to exchanges anyway. I'm sure people will try to avoid paying tax and with crypto that is possible. I have a friend in India who has shown some interest in Hive, but we was worried about the legality of it.

!BEER

Hive is legal in India...its just earnings will be subject to taxation... crypto is not illegal or banned in India, I am sure of that!!

Thanks for choosing my name at the top of list among active users ♥️

There was some news about regulation of cryptocurrency but govt did not announce officially if there will b such kind of news I will definitely know you

You are early in the alphabet. I think it's all legal here, but you can be taxed on your profits. I'm just not sure how I would calculate mine.

!BEER

I would have guessed there would be more than that. I feel like they have a really good community here with the India United group and all of that. Although there are some pretty strict regulations in India on crypto, that doesn't necessarily stop people from using it. Plus some might just be on Hive because they enjoy it. Whether they can pull the money out or not.

It's such a massive country with more people online than live in the USA. It could be massive for crypto, but the politicians need to be reasonable.

That’s great way to see how many Indians are actually using this platform, we can now connect with more people from our country.
Also about the regulation of crypto currency in India is not really true, it’s actually legal now, we can trade in but have to give 30% tax to government from the profits.

That's great if you can use it legally. Governments are always looking to tax stuff. It will make work for accountants.

!BEER

Would love to help on onboarding new hive users in India. Right now working with some of the Blockchain projects very closely.

that would be great brother, tag me whenever you will start that 😃

There is much potential for Crypto currency in India ahead. The roadmap is in progress gradually. Our Government will soon announce a new currency as crypto based so that we first buy that currency then that currency can be utilised to buy another Crypto. I appreciate your work. 👍👏

I don't think people will trust government crypto. It's likely to be centralised.

The government will do this to take maximum tax from investors or earners. People have to buy crypto as much as they want but using that new currency only so that the Government can keep their eyes on it and can claim fixed taxes.

Crypto in India is different than other countries, it's not like people have not invested before, it's just now taxes are more and earning is low because of inflation as well crypto market down.
But yeah people still using crypto projects, just less buying.

And if I see me as well, I was not very much active on hive at the beginning. Just started back posting around a year now. Still trying to be more active
Thanks

It's going to be interesting when the next boom in crypto comes. I hope Hive will be part of it and not just for my own benefit. It can change lives.

!BEER

Yeah it will be surely, High hopes on it

Thanks for the list Steve. I will definitely check out the fellow active Indians.

Developing countries might not bring the TVL we expect, but we definitely have a huge number of potential users.

India is the land of billion people, which is honestly the only thing our parents did well. xD 😂😂

These are still early days for crypto adoption. If just a few hundred are using Hive in India we can still grow a lot.

!BEER

That's true. I badly want to organize a Hive Meetup in India, but I also want to stay anon. Stuck in a dilemma. 😵

You need a mask :D

🤣

Thank you so much for addressing this issue @steevc🤍

Aha good to see the long list of users but unfortunately not all are active 🙂. I still do remember the yearly days of steemit , I do hope more indians will join hive soon. I am planning to promote hive lets see what will happen. 😊.

Oops i am not on the list, not sure why is that.no problem thanks for sharing the data 😊🙏..

Have a great day and week ahead.

I think the data is extracted by location api and all other have given location in bio but u didn't. ;)

Thanks a lot @steevc for looking this problem.

Nice to see hive users from India, good work by @steevc

The Indian Government has launched its own digital currency called Digital Rupee. I think it wants Indians to use its own digital currency, instead of crypto. Therefore, they have imposed a heavy tax on it in India.

Hahaha... I posted after a long break of 7 months. That made me an active user.
I like that. :D
Looks like you are having fun with the Hive Data.
