Óleo sobre lienzo
30cm x 30cm
.
Oil on canvas
30cm x 30cm
.
This is my own design. Initially I made this work to practice in oil, however, little by little it took shape and meaning. It shows a consumed and extinguished candle, representing that life is similar, that it has an end. The melted wax creates the silhouette of a woman, who clings to it, referring to the fact that we cling to life. As the last component we can appreciate the smoke that the candle gives off, where it produces the shape of a skull, many of us know it as a symbol of death, implying that the candle has breathed its last, that its end has come.

🔸Proceso🔸
🔸
After going through a brainstorming process, I settled on this design. I took into account the direction of the light, where it comes from and its dark areas.

I then started defining the stones around and in the background, trying to add some texture and depth. Highlighting that for the stones I used colors like black, white and blue.
🔸
🔸
🔸
I selected the crimson shade for the base and started detailing it.
🔸
🔸
I continued with the candle, giving the shape of the woman.
🔸
🔸
Finalmente, hice el humo.
.
Finally, I made the smoke.
.
As he progressed, he changed tones and techniques. For the base of the candle I made endless premixes until I felt satisfied.

Painting with oil seemed quite pleasant to me, since being an oil-based paint does not dry so quickly, this can be used by trying better mixtures and creating details. However, the technique used greatly determines its result.
