2018 1 oz Reverse Proof Mexican Gold Libertad Coin

This is the first-year issue of the Reverse Proof Gold Libertad Coin. It has a limited mintage of only 1,000 coins and contains 1 troy ounce of .999 fine gold.

I saw these coins going for big money on eBay and decided to get one from JM Bullion. I sent it off the PCGS to have it graded and it came back MS70.

The Obverse features a sculptural relief design of the National Shield, encompassed by the legend "Estados Unidos Mexicanos" (United Mexican States), surrounded by different national coats of arms used throughout Mexico's history. source

I took some macro shots of the historical coats of arms so we can get a closer look. I don’t have any good shots of the whole slab; I’ll take a few some other time and make a post about it.

Looks like I can only add 10 photos, so I'll just post the ones on the outside of the coin. I do like the center design but I guess you'll just have to google it 😂

An amazing coin! Excluding the last one, all coat-of-arms look similar and, at the same time, completely different. I like them!

Doing some research on the designs before I posted this. It seems that the image in the last picture wasn't a coat of arms, it is the Centre section of Page 2 of the Codex Mendoa showing the founding leaders of Tenochtitlan.

I definitely think this is one of the best-designed coins. There are some cool coins out there but the history and detail in the Libertads are amazing 👍
