Botting the SGS Splinterlands Cards

The SGS Community owns a stash of Splinterlands cards, many of which were acquired several years ago. Back in January 2021 we had refined the cards into a playable deck that was customised to target Silver League and then set up an account called @monsterpit where the cards were Delegated. We then raffled off access to this @monsterpit account for a couple of seasons at a time to give members a chance to play and learn the game as well as raise funds for the Community Curation Project @ssg-community. Later, when the Rental Market for Splinterlands cards came online and matured in early 2022 we shifted the community owned cards over to be rented out and we have been earning a steady stream of income ever since. Occasionally a card or two is sold to make up for any shortfall in project expenses but the overall card collection for SGS remains very playable at the Silver League level.

In recent times the rental market has dried up a little bit and the cards themselves have also dropped in value after the recent Bear Market. According to Peak Monsters the SGS card collection is currently valued around $1,300 USD and is earning about 7-8% APR which amounts to an additional income of maybe 24-26 HIVE per month. It’s a small but not insignificant sum and it’s been a couple of years since these assets have really been reviewed. So if there is a better option out there for earning income off these SGS owned Splinterlands cards then it should be considered. It turns out there may be a better alternative….

Recently I’ve been reviewing my own Splinterlands holdings and getting up to date with where the game is at. There are now a couple of interesting Hosted BOT products out there that can battle the cards for you to earn potentially comparable rewards to what we’ve been getting on the Rental Market. Since the SGS Splinterlands Deck remains in a playable state I am looking at whether it’s worth trying one of these bots out to see if they can perhaps outperform the rental market that has been providing steady income these last couple of years. For a benchmark I’ll use the last season Report Card from Splinter Stats shown below.

Last Season (Approx 15 Days) the rentals earned 5245 DEC after fees, which puts it at about $4.15 USD or 12 HIVE for the season. One of the bots leading the race in this space at the moment is Xbot.App and they offer a Free Trial of 7 days (half a season) so I thought I might give it a try and see if it compares for earnings. If anyone else out there in SGS has recent experience with botting Splinterlands Cards then I’d love to hear from you so please share your experience in the comments below. Thanks!

I have an XBOT lite token and it works great, if you give it good cards to play with it will have about a 70% win rate or better. However it's limited to playing up to gold, but my cards are really more silver/ gold level so it works out. The problem you might run into is the soul bound rewards cards which probably can't be sold or rented for more than a year and to get maximal rewards you need a ton of staked SPS now which kind of sucks.

Nice. Thanks for the insight. We don't have any staked SPS on @ssg-community but I personally have a decent chunk - which is one of the reasons why I've been looking at the bots personally. It'll be a good comparison.

All I've got are a handful off cards and a handful of CL packs, never made the time to delve into this game, I love some of the lore though.

Some of the Lore is definitely cool. You'd probably do well if you wanted to add to the Splinterlands Lore with your own creative writing...

I forgot about this deck, I tried to win the use of it a few
times back when it was actioned off every month but never had
any luck winning it. I'm not sure what the best choice is for
earning with the way the market is right now. Using one of the
bots might be a good idea.

I remember. It certainly can't hurt to give it a try and I'll post my results up for everyone to see.

24-26 HIVE per month, isn't bad, 7% APR? not bad at all as well, the bear market seems to have chipped away all that profit, plus splinterlands itself haven't been spared from the beating

Yeh, it's not spectacular but it's decent.

I think we're past the worst of it so hopefully just a bit more consolidation and then the next bull run can begin.

Let me know.... Ive got 2 silver league decks sitting idle because i dont have the time to play them. The rental is shit on most cards these days as its flooded eith them.

I'll make at least another 1 or 2 posts on this topic and there's another slightly older bot called ARCHMAGE which I'll look at because it might also do the job.

I think it's a great idea to explore the possibility of using a bot to earn income from your Splinterlands cards. The rental market is definitely drying up, and the value of your cards has decreased. However, if you can find a bot that can consistently earn you more than the rental market, then it could be a great way to increase your income.

I've heard good things about Xbot.App, so I think it's a good place to start. The free trial is a great way to see how well it works, and if you're happy with the results, you can always upgrade to a paid plan.

I really need to make some time and look into splinterlands some more.

What an excellent investment vehicle! Well done :)

that's cool, hope you have got the great experience for splinterland, enjoy your game.
