When we were running the SGS Monster Raffle last September the plan was to spend the raised funds on Hive Power Leases over the following 6 months to support our Community Authors and then hold another Monster Raffle in March 2024 when those funds ran out. At the time I thought it would be cool to line up the next Monster Raffle with the SGS Meetup in Las Vegas or even hold it just before so that people could swap the prizes they won in person, however that idea didn’t really take hold. There are also a few other reasons which have led to the decision to delay the next Monster Raffle for now.

Without going into it too much there is a bit going on for a few of us in the community at the moment and having “Read the Room” with Old Mate @welshstacker it just doesn’t feel like the right time to push for another big fundraiser. I need to recalculate the Project Budget anyway to account for those lost leases so for now we’ll just consider the date for the next SGS Monster Raffle yet to be determined.
We have already Tapered Off about 40K Hive Power in Leases in recent weeks due to various reasons so we can probably stretch the funds we raised last year for another couple of months if we just hold our Hive Power leases where they are now. At 320K Hive Power currently we are still significantly ahead of where we were this time last year and we also have 100% of our current leases established via Off Market Handshake Deals – which is how we like to do them.
Apologies to anyone who has been looking forward to our next Monster Raffle – especially those new members who are keen to get involved in their first one. Please bear with us while we get ourselves organized and in the meantime I hope everyone can get behind the big SGS Event for March, which is the Las Vegas Meetup. I haven’t been to one yet, but I always enjoy the stories of shenanigan's every year because this event looks like great fun.
