The other day I asked the question Should SGS Buy Land in Splinterlands? and judging by the Comments on that post from our Members, the answer was a fairly clear NO by most respondents. That’s fine, of course. It wasn’t a formal vote for the Members but it didn’t really need to be because it was just an idea for people to give some feedback on so that I could "Read the Room". However the answer to that question probably raises another one...

The way that the Splinterlands Ecosystem is evolving does have some repercussions for the way that the SGS Splinterlands Assets are valued. The community owns some NFTs (Monsters) that are not really effective in Battles and they aren’t going to generate any income from the Rental Market either so we aren't really getting much Value holding onto these Assets. These older cards DO currently have augmented value as Workers on Land, however. Since SGS isn’t going to acquire any Land it makes sense to try and realize the value of those Worker cards (while it lasts) some other way.
I think that the smart thing to do would be to sell those older cards that have dropped out of the Meta and have value in the Marketplace as Workers. They are trading at a slight Premium currently because of the hype around the Land Release and we can use the funds to rotate into some more competitive Modern Monsters that will keep the @ssg-community account Battle Capable while also increasing the earnings of the Archmage Battle Bot that we are using by winning more Battles.
It’s a bit fiddly to Buy and Sell NFTs on the Splinterlands Market but we are possibly only talking about 8-12 cards which would be rotated. I do already perform some basic maintenance on the Battle Deck to Collect Rewards and Configure Archmage so I’ll likely just make a few of these minor tweaks / rotations over the next month or so while I am doing regular maintenance on the account. If anyone has any questions or concerns with me doing this, please feel free to reach out.
With things much more volatile these days I'd be prudent to have a little extra breathing room.
