How is it already December?
It is apparently my thing these days to only post to Hive every three months or so. Checks watch and calendar… Today is the day! 😄
What’s been happening @dfinney?
It is always f*cking something… This last week my husband ended up in the hospital! He is fine now, or at least recovering. Poor dude turned yellow/orange with a fever of 103.4 on Tuesday evening. I whisked him to the ER where we found out gallstones blocked one of his liver bile ducts (hence the yellow/orange color). They had been wreaking havoc long enough that he also had sepsis. 🤦🏻♀️ Five days of IV antibiotics and two surgeries later, hubs is home and on the mend.
Hubs came home Saturday night. So on Sunday I decided I would go buy a Christmas tree! Cause why not buy a live tree, when I already have an artificial tree, and when I haven’t done ANYTHING else to prepare for Christmas.
In holiday related things…
The other day a little “treat myself” gift arrived in the mail. I knew the purchase was holiday themed. However, one exciting element of the “gift” only became clear when I opened the package.
Let’s have a look!
OK, this is not a DVD. It is a coin, featuring Grogu (aka baby Yoda) from The Mandalorian TV show. The coin is 1 Troy ounce of .999 fine silver from the island nation Niue.
Joy to the Galaxy! Obviously the coin is Christmas themed. It’s got snowflakes, stylized poinsettias and a bit of red and green colorization. But this IS NOT the surprise. The surprise is the airtite protecting the coin.
IT’S AN ORNAMENT!!!
Of course I put that baby straight on the tree!
And with that, LET THE HOLIDAYS BEGIN!

Hope things up your way are recovering from the floods. Did you get any snow this week?
The people in the valley are slowly recovering from the flood, it was a bad one, I'm just glad we live up in the hills!
We had a nice snowstorm yesterday, most of it is gone that's how it goes in the Northwest lol!

Hey @dfinney! I've been through the gall bladder thing, but mine was long ago enough, it wasn't a micro surgery. Nope, I go the big ole scar to go with it! I'm hoping your Hubs got the micro thingy type! Gall bladder attacks are no fun, and it sounds like he had an extra dose of 'no fun' added to his go round. Praying for a speedy recovery for him.🙏🙏🙏
Now, for the ornament......I LOVE it! That is really cool and pretty as well! Something to remember this Christmas by (as if Hubs escapade wasn't enough).

Oh no! Fortunately Philip got the laproscopic surgery. The dumb thing is we took him to the ER in August with the same stomach pains during all the blood work at the time pointed to gallstones, but they didn’t see the stones on the scans. So they ended up sending him down all of these other paths to explain the pain. It’s a bummer they didn’t fix him up back then.
I had 6 attacks before we even headed to the ER. Of course, along the way, the movement of the car bumped the stones out of the biliary duct and the pain was gone as if it had never happened! Fortunately, somebody there was on top of things and ordered an ultra sound. They found the stones and major surgery later, all gone! My youngest was 3 months old at the time and I had to send him to my mom's for 3 weeks as I was not allowed to pick him up at all!

Phil had an MRI and CT first ER visit and they didn’t find them! The doc this time said they can hide sometimes? So weird. Yeah, hubs can’t lift the dogs for 2 weeks. Recovering from gallstones with human babies would be tough!
It was, but I won't as he won't ever have to go through the pain of gall stones again! It was actually worse than having a baby with anesthesia!

Oh shit glad he’s on the mend. That’s some scary shit. Of course you have 2 trees, guess ones for me since mom won’t let me put one up. Nice ornament sort of….🤣
It took them a bit to figure out what was happening and I was having hardcore mom PTSD… cause a lot of people with pancreatic cancer find out because they end up jaundiced. And we ended up at the same damn hospital she had been at for all of 2020. I was so relieved when the prognosis was gallstones.
And relieved that I finally got him to go to the doctor. This episode had been building since the day before Thanksgiving.
Oh goodness! I glad your hubby is fine (now) and home.

Loving your trees. It seemed like forever before the holidays got here, but once it got close to Thanksgiving, it has all been a whirl. Decorating the house has helped with the Christmas spirit for sure and it won't be long now !
I don't have that many presents to buy, but I was feeling like I had nothing coming together, but then in the last week a lot DID get done and I "think" I am almost done now.... I think.... I hope... .which means I will free to bake, play and just enjoy the rest of the time till Christmas.

I think we are not buying gifts this year. Well at least not for each other. We have too much stuff already! But we say this every year and then end up buying more stuff! 🤣😄😂

Fortunately, my extended family has all they need and most of what they want too.
I can't NOT buy my Mom something though, so she is my main focus. I do like to get my brother's and sisters a fun token and a gift card or something like that too. I mean, what has NEED got to do with it ??? LOLOL
That's good that your husband is now fine and in your home. Christmas is near and in my own opinion, it will be joyful when celebrating it with family.
Hooray! It's Heart warming to know that the Hubby is Home for the Holidays and enjoy the sight of two beautify decorated trees for the remainder of his convalescence. And what can I say of the shiny Grogu hanging on...on which tree? Maybe one for each tree? Oh I bet there was only per Household but What says "Joy to the Galaxy" from far, far away, better than this Mandalorian Star.
