I think I started to like dinosaurs when I was a kid, around the same moment that I started to enjoy animals in general. Watched some documentaries and I remember a lot watching cartoons, such as "The Land Before Time", telling the saga of a young dinosaur called Little Foot and his friends. The more famous dinosaurs as a kid were T. rex, brontosaurus, triceratops, and Stegosaurus among others. After a while, probably at University, a teacher brought the reality. The most famous dinosaurs that we talk about aren't our local ones. Those dinosaurs that I cited were found in the region that now is the US and Canada. In Brazil we also had dinosaurs, but different ones, like Abelisaurus and Picnonemosaurus, which aren't the ones that we normally find in kids' books. That's because most of the world uses in many things North America as a reference, but anyways, now I live in the land of these giant animals that I learned during my younghood. So it is normal to find Canadian coins celebrating the discovery of these animals, especially most of them here in Alberta.
The Tyranossaur rex is considered the king of dinosaurs and it was used as a main character of the Jurassic Park movie, the most complete bone of this dinosaur was found in Alberta and it is in exposition at the Drumheller museum. I bought recently the amazing 1/4 oz silver coin and it is part of the $20 collection for $20. It is a coin from 2016 and it is a bit difficult to find through the coin dealers, at least the online ones. I found it at MK Coins for $27, not bad. The problem was the $15 fixed shipping. I could buy more coins to dilute this shipping, but I didn't want to. So finally at eBay, I could find it for $31.83 with shipping included. In the end, I was happy with this purchase, it was a coin that I wanted still it isn't that beautiful 1 oz silver with that dinosaur skull but it is something. I enjoyed the details of the full dinosaur, that is with his mouth opened and showing some type of movement, maybe chasing a prey.

The name of this dinosaur comes from "The king" he is very popular known as the king of dinosaurs. It was an apex predator in North America but maybe not the deadliest of all dinosaurs that existed. The Abelisaurus that I cited earlier was also considered one of the deadliest dinosaurs that was found in the region that we call today South America. In addition, the aquatic shark Megalodon certainly had the most powerful jaw of all. Some other dinosaurs, such as Spinosaurs also was dangerous. Establishing the most dangerous dinosaurs is tricky, maybe with the same difficulties when choosing between a lion, a cougar, a cheetah, or a tiger as the deadliest feline. There are lots of animals living in the world nowadays and it is difficult to tell which animal is the apex king, as many think about the T. rex. But for sure this animal is in the top 5 of the most feared animals of its time.

Rex may have survived the cataclysm if it had better front limbs than those weak looking ones. Fate of evolution.
Maybe if they had a bunker? 😜
