Walking Liberty half dollar

The Walking Liberty half dollar is another classic coin - originally minted by the United States Mint from 1916 to 1947. The original 50-cent piece coin was 90% silver / 10% copper, with a 30.63mm diameter, a 1.8mm thickness, and a weight of 12.5 grams. The coin was designed by a sculptor and engraver named Adolph A. Weinman. The coin features a walking Lady Liberty draped in the American flag, with the sun on the east horizon - the flip side of the coin features a bald eagle rising from a mountain top branch perch (Source).

Walking Liberty 1oz Silver

The Walking Liberty remake coin from Sunshine Mint weighs 1oz and is .999 Pure Silver. The Walking Liberty side is very close to the original, the main noticeable difference is that the original coin has the mint year at the bottom of the coin instead of the text "SMI".

The Walking side features Lady Liberty walking to the left with her right arm outstretched, and the left arm cradling one olive branch. The sun is at the bottom left, shining behind her, the American flag draped over her shoulder. The text "LIBERTY" stretches along the outside curve of the upper half of the coin. To the right of the Lady are the words "IN GOD WE TRUST" - the bottom of the coin has the text "SMI", Sunshine Mint logo.

Eagle Side differences

The Eagle side of this Sunshine Mint pure silver remake is very different from the original half dollar. The original Walking Liberty eagle Side of the coin has the eagle moving to the left, with the US motto text "E PLURIBUS UNUM" to the left of the eagle. The original bottom of the eagle side only has the text "HALF DOLLAR". The original also doesn't have the stars above the eagle, or the mint mark in the center.

Have a great day!

Iconic and classic, It's all in the details, as if the designers keep emphasizing over and over again, "Silver is money."

It's even in the USA constitution.. gold and silver is the only currency, unfortunately people forget :) With inflation, people are starting to remember, 16 states are bringing gold and silver back allowing people to pay property tax with it, nice.

Beautiful rounds I got em from , silvergoldbull too. What's that hive thing a lighter? How can I get something like that ?

Nice, yeah the Hive thing is a lighter, the tan platform with the hive logo is an upside down frisbee :) My wife has a Cricut vinyl sticker cutting machine, so she made some hive logo stickers.. eventually I'll get her to make up a #silvergoldstackers to add to the frisbee tray. The hive logo is pretty simple, it could be printed on a label and exacto knifed, if desired, to be added to any object.

One of my favorite coin designs ever. Great score.👍

I have plenty of Walking Liberty Half Dollars that I found in Circulation... I even have a 1938-D in Brand New Beautiful Condition... No, it's not graded, but I know it's worth plenty...

Very nice, I'll eventually come across one someday :)

Mine is better than the ones seen in the PCGS Listings... I have some Rare U.S. Coins that would blow everyone away in the SGS Community... I also have some of the Earlier Sunshine Mint's Silver Rounds...

The design and shiny looks are really good and one can surely think of owing.

Hey Alok, try some longer and more meaningful comments, seems like comments so short get ignored :(

Thanks, Walking Liberty's a classic, extra shine with the silver :)
