All U.S. bullion silver coins today are non-circulating coins and are either 99.9% (some other countries like Australia and Canada have coins at 99.99% pure!)
In the U.S. prior to 1965, they mixed other metals with silver for stability of the coins. JFK coins were 40% silver from 1965 to 1970. These coins were all circulating coins, which they no longer do today.
