The Republic of Austria has been issuing coins to commemorate their longtime musical heritage, which over the centuries has included great names such as Franz Schubert, Gustav Mahler, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and so many more! The coins have been available in gold since 1989, silver since 2008, and platinum since 2016.[1]
To assist in the return of the #MonsterRaffle hosted by the SilverGoldStackers community, I am hereby donating one of these 99.99% pure silver coins! Add some shiny to your stash!
The obverse (front) of the piece features the magnificent pipe organ located in the Vienna Musikverein's Golden Hall with "REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH" ("Republic of Austria") written above. Beneath is "ONE OUNCE FINE SILVER" in German, along with the date of minting and a nominal face-value of 1½ Euros.[1]
The reverse shows a medley of musical instruments — ha! see what I did there? 😁 There are violins, a cello, a Vienna horn (which is a more sophisticated variant of the French Horn for use in orchestral arrangements), a bassoon, and a harp.[1]
