Gold bullion Sovereigns stand as icons of wealth, stability, and heritage in the realm of numismatics. With a history spanning over two centuries, these coins have maintained their status as a cornerstone of British currency and a symbol of global prosperity. Among the myriad of Sovereign editions, the 2019 Sovereign emerges as a paragon of elegance and reliability, offering investors a tangible link to centuries of monetary tradition.

Crafted from 22-carat gold and weighing 7.988 grams, the 2019 Sovereign represents a timeless embodiment of value and prestige. Sourced directly from the Royal Mint, each coin carries with it the assurance of authenticity and quality synonymous with this esteemed institution.

On the obverse of the coin, one is greeted by the dignified visage of Queen Elizabeth II, captured in the fifth portrait of her reign. Designed by Jody Clark, an accomplished artist from the Royal Mint, this portrayal showcases Her Majesty adorned in the King George IV State Diadem, a regal crown worn during the annual State Opening of Parliament. Accompanying her likeness is the Latin inscription "DEI GRA REGINA FID DEF," translating to "By the Grace of God, Queen" and "Defender of the Faith," a testament to her role as the Supreme Governor of the Church of England.

Continuing the tradition that began over two centuries ago, the reverse of the coin features the iconic depiction of St. George slaying the dragon, originally envisioned by Benedetto Pistrucci in 1816. This timeless motif, symbolic of courage and victory over adversity, underscores the enduring legacy of the Sovereign as a beacon of strength and resilience.

A piece of monetary history.

something i hope to pass on to the kids one day.

I really like the obverse of this that doesn't have the Queen. That is pretty cool. It kind of reminds me of an old west theme with a bucking bronco, even though I know that isn't the case.

the reverse of the coin features the iconic depiction of St. George slaying the dragon

it might not be very clear from my crappy photography skills, but its a pic of a knight on his horse "slaying" a dragon

Ah, I see it now. I must have missed that piece before. Silly me!
