She rose to fame in the 1930s. Did you know she died in 2014 at the age of 85? That means I could have met her. Her middle name was Jane. I grew up watching some of her movies back in the 1990s back when I was a kid.

One particular movie I remember is where she is an angel. She is up in Heaven talking to others before she is to descend to earth to be born inside a human. That was my first exposure to this Catholic ideology or I can't say exactly what the origin of that particular belief is.

Shirley Temple started acting in 1931 at the age of three.

1934

She stars in Bright Eye where her mom dies. Her uncle tries to kidnap her but then she runs away.

In Baby Take a Bow she ends up in the middle of criminal activity. A man stole this pearl necklace and pretends to give it to her for her birthday. It later ends up stashed inside carpet sweeper. The maid emptied it into the trash. But Shirley eventually found it and brought it over to the police like a young detective version of Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen.

In Dimples she lives with her pickpocketing grandfather. She is hired to entertain. She is adopted. But she ends up missing her grandpa. And then she ends up appearing in a big show in NYC.

1939

In The Little Princess her dad has to fight in the Second Boer War. She is left at a girls school where she rides on her pony. She later becomes a servant at the school. They treat her badly. She runs away and ends up at a hospital where she finds her dad.
