How are you? I hope everyone is well and you have enough time to travel. Today I want to share with you the Galata Tower, which I visited last summer. Galata Tower is one of the rarest and most important historical artifact of Istanbul.

Galata tower is a wonderful historical monument that has still been standing for hundreds of years and has been almost never damaged. The only problem is the poor restoration. You will see some of these in the photos.
Galata kulesi yüzlerce yıldır hala ayakta ve neredeyse hiç zarar görmeyen harika bir tarihi eser. Tek sorun kötü restorasyon. Fotoğraflarda bunların bazılarını göreceksiniz.
I don't remember exactly where I took this photo, but I think it is somewhere near the Galata Tower. I don't remember exactly where it was. I think it's great art.

This photo is from the top floor of Galata Tower. A wonderful view. There are many more photos like this. As you can see opposite, there is Hagia Sophia and Sultanahmet Bluo Mosque.

In this photo, a subway passes over the bridge on the left. And the place you see in the photo is Haliç.

You can see the Galata Bridge in this photo. A few months ago, they closed the Galata Bridge for restoration. Now the asphalt and coatings at the base of the bridge are much different, cleaner and more beautiful.

This is the Bosphorus. The mountain-like things you see in the distance are islands. Here are some of the wonderful places to go and see very close to Istanbul. I especially like Heybeliada. There's a wonderful church up there on the hill.

If you zoom in and look at the photo, you will see a very large and tall building. The name of the building is Çamlıca Television Tower. There used to be other towers there that were not as beautiful as this tower. More television towers. Then they removed all the towers there and built this tower instead.
Fotoğrafı biraz yakınlaştırıp bakarsanız çok büyük ve uzun bir bina görürsünüz. Binanın adı Çamlıca Televizyon kulesi. Eskiden orada bu kule kadar güzel olmayan başka kuleler vardı. Başka televizyon kuleleri. Daha sonra oradaki bütün kuleleri kaldırıp yerine bu kuleyi inşa ettiler.
As you can see in this photo, there are buildings built with different architectures. The large buildings visible far away are skyscrapers that were built later. About 10 years ago, there were no such tall and giant buildings there.

There is a Bosphorus bridge where you see in the photo. That's the famous Bosphorus. The color of the water is dark blue and it looks amazing. The Bosphorus is one of the most beautiful places you can see in this world.
Fotoğrafta gördüğünüz yerde boğaz köprüsü var. Orası meşhur İstanbul boğazı. Suyun rengi koyu mavi ve harika görünüyor. İstanbul Boğazı bu dünyada görüp görebileceğiniz en güzel yerlerden birisi.
This is a photo where the Haliç is seen more. Haliç is truly a wonderful place. There is also a very big and long Turkish Flag there. It's also great that there are still so many trees there. There are even big forests there.
Bu da Haliç' in daha çok göründüğü bir fotoğraf. Haliç gerçekten harika bir yer. Orada ayrıca çok büyük ve uzun bir Türk Bayrağı var. Ayrıca orada hala çok fazla ağaç olması harika. Hatta büyük ormanlar bile var orada.
The photo you see is the ceiling of the Galata Tower. What a bad restoration, isn't it? I wish there didn't do such a restoration... Unfortunately, there is such a bad restoration culture in Turkey. This is a very sad thing.
Bu gördüğünüz fotoğraf ise Galata Kulesi' nin tavan kısmı. Ne kadar da kötü bir restorasyon değil mi? Keşke böyle bir restorasyon olmasaydı... Türkiye' de ne yazık ki böyle kötü bir restorasyon kültürü var. Bu çok üzücü bir şey.

There is such a 3D model on the top floor of the tower. A very carefully prepared model.
Kulenin en üst katında böyle bir 3 boyutlu maket var. Çok özenle hazırlanmı bir maket.
You can reach the top floor of the tower by elevator, but you have to use stairs to go down. After staying upstairs for a while, we started using the stairs to go down. As we went down each floor, we encountered many beautiful and different historical artifacts.
Kulenin en üst katına asansör ile çıkılıyor ama aşağı inmek için merdiven kullanılmak zorunda. Biz de bir süre üst katta kaldıktan sonra aşağıya inmek için merdivenleri kullanmaya başladık. Her bir kat aşağıya indikçe çok güzel ve farklı tarihi eserlerle karşılaştık.
This is what the walls of the tower look like in reality. A huge tower built with brown stones. But some parts were very bad as a result of the restoration.
Kulenin duvarları gerçekte böyle görünüyor. Kahverengi taşlarla inşa edilmiş kocaman bir kule. Ama restorasyon sonucu çok kötü olmuş bazı kısımlar.
There are cups as you see in this photo. I don't know how old it is, but maybe it's historical artifacts from a hundred years ago. There are also historical artifacts other than the cup, which I don't know exactly what they are.

I don't know what the things in this photo are, but I think they are made of soil. I think these are things made from clay and then baked in ovens.

As you descend from the top floor of the Galata Tower, there are such windows of different sizes. The views from these windows are truly excellent.

As you can see here, there are works made of stone. Artifacts such as plates.

What you see in this photo are pots made of clay.

The shapes and letters on the stone plate you see in this photo look very interesting. It's very difficult for me to understand what happened.

On this stone plate there are two bird-shaped things on the right and left. In the middle there is something made in the shape of a cross. Perhaps these are works from the Byzantine period. What looks like the armor shape on the left here has a castle shape inside it. It is very difficult to guess and understand what this means. But I wish I knew enough history to understand what happened when I looked at these things.

This is another window in the tower. From this window there is a view of the Haliç that we see above. By the way, the place we call the Haliç is where Mehmet the Conqueror carried ships from land.

The stone you see in this photo is a stone dated December 20, 1912. I think it's kind of like marble.

These chains you see are very old chains. You can already tell how old the chains are from their shape and thickness. There is also a very beautiful picture there.

In the lines above, I mentioned that there were windows of different sizes when going down from the tower. This is one of those windows. It's a very clean window and you can see a wonderful view of the Bosphorus here. The Bosphorus is truly a wonderful place. Especially the coastal areas are very beautiful.

A different tiny window in this window. As you can see, the walls of the Galata Tower actually look like this. It is obvious that it is an old historical artifact. And it is obvious that it is a historical monument that will survive for many years to come. As I said at the beginning, it is one of the rarest historical artifacts in the world.

There is such a small store somewhere on the lower floors of the Galata Tower. In the store they sell souvenirs and copies of some works.

Sayende bütün galata kulesini gezip manzaralarına şahit oldum. Eski yapılara baktım ban ruhu, canı kanı olan bimbir zorlukla, belki aylarca süren binbir türlü emeği anlatıyor. Restarasyonla yapılan yapılar ruhsuz ve cansız görünüyor.
Evet restorasyon yüzünden orası gerçekten kötü görünüyor ama manzara güzel neyse ki 😀
