Hi Friends
After a mostly cold March, we have been going through summer-like days in Istanbul for about a week. On the day I prepared this post, I saw that the temperature rose to 28°C. This temperature is a very interesting situation compared to the first days of April. I don't remember such a hot end of March-early April before. It would not be possible to stay at home on a weekend when the weather was suc clear and hot. These boring winter days had already overwhelmed us.

Daha çok soğuk geçen bir Mart ayından sonra, İstanbul’da yaklaşık bir haftadır neredeyse yaz mevsimini yaşıyoruz. Bu yazıyı hazırladığım gün hava sıcaklığının 28°C’ye kadar yükseldiğini gördüm. Bu sıcaklık Nisan ayının ilk günlerine göre çok ilginç bir durum. Daha önce bu kadar sıcak bir Mart sonu-Nisan başı hatırlamıyorum. Havanın açık ve bu kadar sıcak olduğu bir haftasonu evde oturmak olmazdı. Zaten bu sıkıcı kış günleri bizi iyice bunaltmıştı.
Since it was obvious from the weather forecast that the weather would be this nice on the weekend, we made plan on Friday evening. Due to the mayoral election on Sunday, we preferred Saturday. This time, we decided to go to nearby Ozan Creek, our second favorite place in the Şile district of Istanbul, and have a barbecue there. We thought it would be a change for us and we would be in touch with nature in the forest. It has already been more than six months since we came here.
Haftasonu havanın böyle güzel olacağı hava durumundan belli olduğu için Cuma akşamından plan yaptık. Pazar günü seçim olduğundan Cumartesi gününü tercih etmiştik. Bu kez, İstanbul’un Şile ilçesinde bulunan ve bizim ikinci favori mekanımız olan Ozan Deresi’ne gitmeye ve orda mangal yapmaya karar verdik. Hem değişiklik olur hem de ormanda doğayla iç içe oluruz diye düşündük. Zaten buraya gelmeyeli de altı aydan fazla bir süre geçmişti.
I met my friend around noon on Saturday. We first put the table, chair, samovar and other materials in my friend's car. Then we went shopping to the market to buy the things for the barbecue. We set off around 1 o'clock. We arrived at Ozan Creek after about 45 minutes. When we came to Ozan Creek, the first thing that caught our attention was that the stream was flowing strongly and even flooded in some places. Since it was the month of Ramadan, there were a few families having a picnic in the forest and a few bikers out for a ride.
Cumartesi öğlen gibi arkadaşımla buluştum. Önce arkadaşımın arabasına masa, sandalye, semaveri ve diğer malzemeleri koyduk. Daha sonra mangal malzemelerini almak için markete alışverişe gittik. Saat 1 gibi yola çıktık. Yaklaşık 45 dakika sonra Ozan Deresi’ne varmıştık. Ozan Deresi’ne geldiğimizde dikkatimizi çeken ilk şey derenin güçlü bir şekilde akıyor olması ve hatta bazı yerlerde taşkınlar yapmıştı. Ramazan ayı olması nedeniyle ormanda piknik yapan birkaç aile ile geziye çıkmış birkaç motorcu bulunmaktaydı.
We could not get the car into the forest because the water coming from the mountains damaged the entrance road to the forest. After parking the car in a suitable place on the roadside, we took our belongings, foods-drinks and walked into the forest. We had difficulty finding a shaded place because the leaves of the trees had not yet grown. We were looking for a shaded place to avoid sweating in March, very strange :) After finding a suitable place under a tree, we left our belongings there. As usual, my friend lit the samovar first. So, I wandered around the forest and near the creek and took photos.
Dağlardan gelen sular ormana giriş yolunu bozduğu için arabayı ormanın içine kadar sokamadık. Arabayı yol kenarında uygun bir yere parkettikten sonra eşyaları ve yiyecek-içecekleri alıp ormana yürüdük. Ağaçların yaprakları henüz büyümediğinden gölge bir yer bulmakta zorlandık. Mart ayında terlememek için gölge bir yer arıyorduk, çok ilginç : ) bir ağacın dibinde uygun bir yer bulduktan sonra eşyalarımızı buraya bıraktık. Arkadaşım her zamanki gibi ilk olarak semaveri yaktı. Ben de ormanda ve dere kenarında biraz dolaşıp fotoğraflar çektim.
Sitting and resting for a while, we slowly started to light the barbecue fire as we were starting to get hungry. My friend had set the table and had started making the salad, and I had started making the barbecue. Meanwhile, there were other people who came to the forest after us. After eating, we chatted and drank the tea that had been brewing in the samovar for 2 hours. Even though it was evening, the weather was still hot. We lit a small fire in case we might have got cold. After dinner and tea, I walked towards the direction where the stream water comes from and took photos.
Biraz oturup dinlendikten sonra yavaştan mangal ateşini yakamaya başladık çünkü acıkmaya başlıyorduk. Arkadaşım bir yandan masayı kurup salatayı yapmaya başladı, ben de mangalı yapmaya başladım. Bu arada, bizden sonra ormana gelen başka kişiler de oldu. Yemek faslını tamamladıktan sonra semaverde 2 saattir demlenmiş bekleyen çayı içip muhabbet ettik. Akşam saatleri olmasına ragmen hava halen sıcaktı. Biz yine de üşürüz diye ufak bir ateş yaktık. Yemeğin ve çayın üstüne ben dere suyunun geldiği yöne doğru yürüyüş yapıp fotoğraflar çektim.
I came back and we brewed tea one more time. The fire was burning, and it was slowly starting to get dark. As we were chatting and chatting, it was past 7 o'clock. There was no one left in the forest. Having sit for a while longer, we packed up and headed home. It's nice to experience such hot days in spring. It looks like the weather will continue the same way in the coming days. Perhaps, I could do a weekend activity every weekend. All photos in this post belong to me. Thank you for reading.
Geri döndükten sonra bir çay daha demledik. Ateşimiz yanıyordu, hava da yavaş yavaş kararmaya başlamıştı. Sohbet, muhabbet derken saat 7’yi geçmişti. Ormanda kimse kalmamıştı. Biraz daha oturduktan sonra toparlanıp eve doğru yola çıktık. İlkbaharda bu kadar sıcak günleri yaşamak güzel. Önümüzdeki günlerde de hava aynı şekilde devam edecek görünüyor. Crazy weather here too my friend, the first summer like days actually arrived as early as in February this year. It felt very strange to wear just shorts and T shirt in February. Obviously, nature is all messed up everywhere on the planet :( But you picked some nice spot for a barbecue and took cool shots in there!
