From the beginning of the pandemic until 2023, I had taken domestic vacations towards end of the summer season due to the pandemic and economic crisis. I don't like the vacation format that goes between hotel, sea and foods anyway. I want to explore new places as much as possible. Last year, I realized the Aegean tour that I had planned long before. I could not travel all over the Aegean, but in this travel post series, I write about the places I could visit in detail in the Aegean. The eighth of those are Datça district and Akyaka holiday resort of Ula, which are both located in Muğla province.

Son yıllarda pandemi ve ekonomik kriz nedeniyle tatilimi sezon sonlarına denk getiriyorum. Zaten otel deniz ve yemek arasında geçip giden tatil şeklini sevmiyorum. Mümkün olduğunca yeni yerler keşfetmek istiyorum. Bu yıl uzun zamandır yapmayı planladığım Ege turunu gerçekleştirdim. Ege’nin her yerini gezemedim ama bu gezi yazısı serisinde sizlere Ege’de detaylı gezebildiğim yerlerden bahsedeceğim. Bunlardan sekizincisi her ikisi de Muğla ilinde bulunan Datça ilçesi ve Ula’ya bağlı Akyaka tatil yeridir.
After dropping by the İçmeler holiday resort of Marmaris, we set off again towards Datça, which was in our plan. The road to Datça gets worse after İçmeler. One can reach Hisarönü through a forested and mountainous road. Traces of the fires that broke out in 2021 were still visible in the forests along this road. After a dirt and cold asphalt road, we were finally on a smooth road. The part of the road from here is very beautiful. One arrives at Datça by driving under the trees, through the forests, around the mountains. Since Datça is surrounded by mountains, there are many places with scenic views on the way. We stopped at one of them, rested and took a few photos.
Marmaris’in İçmeler tatil yerine uğradıktan sonra planımız içersinde olan Datça’ya doğru tekrar yola koyulduk. Datça’ya giden yol İçmelerden sonra kötüleşiyor. Hisarönü’ne kadar ormanlık ve dağlık bir yoldan gidiliyor. Bu yol üzerindeki ormanlarda 2021 yılında çıkan yangınların izleri hala duruyordu. Toprak ve soğuk asfalt yol derken nihayet düzgün bir yola çıkmıştık. Yolun burdan sonraki kısmı çok güzel. Ağaçların altından, ormanların içinden, dağların etrafından dolaşarak Datça’ya varıyorsunuz. Datça’nın etrafı dağlarla çevrili olduğundan yol üstünde birden fazla seyir manzarası olan yerler var. Biz de birinde durarak dinlenip birkaç fotoğraf çektik.
We continued on our way. As we got closer to Datça, we saw so many beautiful bays where one could take a caravan, camp or have a picnic. We wished we had a caravan and came here by it. I think you should definitely come here with a caravan some day. We arrived at Datça center in about an hour and a half in total. Parking the car, we walked towards the Pier. We visited the bazaar nearby Kumluk beach, sat in a restaurant and had lunch.
Yolumuza devam ettik. Datça’ya yaklaştıkça karavan çekilecek, kamp veya piknik yapılacak o kadar güzel koylar gördük. Keşke karavanımız olsaydı da buraya karavanla gelseydik diye iç geçirdik. İlerde bir gün buraya mutlaka karavanla gelinmeli diye düşünüyorum. Toplamda bir buçuk saat gibi bir sürede Datça merkeze varmıştık. Arabayı park ettikten sonra İskele’ye doğru yürüdük. Kumluk plajının yanında bulunan çarşıyı gezdik, bir restorantta oturup öğle yemedğini yedik.
In fact, there are beautiful places to see in Datça such as the Ancient City of Knidos and Palamutbükü, but we could not visit these places because we did not have enough time. Perhaps, we could have done this if we had come to Datça at first instead Marmaris. Leave it for another time. After having lunch, we set off towards Akyaka.
Aslında, Datça’da Knidos Antik Kenti, Palamutbükü gibi görülmesi gereken güzel yerler var ama fazla zamanımız olmadığı için bu yerlere uğrayamadık. Belki, ilk önce Marmaris yerine Datça’ya gelseydik bunu yapabilirdik. Başka bir zaman artık. Öğle yemeğini yedikten sonra Akyaka’ya doğru yola çıktık.
We arrived in Akyaka about an hour and a half later. I had never been to Akyaka before, but my friend had been once. That's why we added it to our vacation program. Good that we added it. Akyaka is like a small holiday town. It wasn't very crowded because it was off season. We found the hotel we had previously booked and left our belongings there. After walking from the Azmak River to the beach, we swam in the sea until sunset. You can have trip on the Azmak River by kayak or boat if you want. The sea in Akyaka beach was the shallowest one I have ever seen. After spending the night in Akyaka, we set off to go to our next destination in the morning.
Yaklaşık bir buçuk saat sonra Akyaka’ya varmıştık. Ben daha önce Akyaka’ya hiç gelmemiştim, ama arkadaşım bir defa gelmişti. Tatil programına eklememizin nedeni de buydu. İyi ki de eklemişiz. Akyaka, küçük tatil kasabası gibi bir yer. Sezon bittği için çok kalabalık değildi. Önceden rezervasyon yaptığımız oteli bularak eşyalarımızı otele bıraktık. Azmak Nehri’nden kumsala kadar yürüyüş yaptıktan sonra günbatımına kadar denize girdik. İsterseniz Azmak Nehri’nde kayak veya botlarla tur yapabiliyorsunuz. Akyaka kumsalındaki deniz, gördüğüm en sığ denizdi. Geceyi Akyaka’da geçirdikten sabah bir sonraki destinasyonumuza gitmek için yola çıktık.

Ege’nin en güzel yerlerden olan Akyaka’ya birkaç kez kamp yapmak için gittim. Yol üzerindeki ormanların yanması gerçekten çok üzücü. Datça yolunun bir kısmı bozuk da olsa, ormanların içinden yolculuk yapmak oldukça keyifli olmuştur. Bu bölgelerde o karavan fikrini bende çok seviyorum. Hatta dediğin gibi o kadar güzel koylar vardı ki; bütün yazı bir karavanın içinde oralarda dolaşarak geçirebilirim. Fotoğraflar her zaman ki gibi çok güzel ve net görünüyorlar. Emeğine Sağlık.
Karavan yeri 5. fotografın hemen saginda kalan duzluk bir yerdi. Park etmiş karavanları görünce içimiz geçmedi değil.

Akdeniz sahilinden daha güzel.
Datça'ya sadece bir kere gittim ve gerçekten inanılmaz bir yer. Maalesef yolu pek iyi değil dediğiniz gibi ve ulaşım da biraz zor. Her saatte otobüs bulamıyorsunuz yani en azından 5-6 yıl önce ben bulamamıştım. Her insanın hayatında bir kere gidip görmesi ve mümkünse bir süre yaşaması gereken bir yer.
Evet yolları maceralı, günübirlik gitmek mantıklı değil.
