Nineties Friday With Some Wild West Action!

Hard to believe that it's already Friday... Overall it's been a good week, and not overly busy which is a nice change. It also gave me a little more time to focus on engaging more on Hive. I can't complain here at all, the weather's been great and I've had a productive week. Things rarely happen according to plan, so it's kind of nice!

Since it's Friday I will be participating once again in Nineties Friday. It's a weekly event started by @geneeverett where you can share anything from the decade of the 1990's, as I've said before your imagination really is the limit. To participate just compose an original post sharing whatever you like from the decade and use the tag #ninetiesfriday or join the Nineties Friday group and you can post it there. Always a good idea to do a shoutout to @geneeverett as well. Each week one random participant will win six HSBI units, three from Gene and three from me. So please feel free to join in the fun!

This week I think we'll start out with a western feel, and just see where we go from there. Here we go!

Tombstone

In 1993 this hit movie was released with an all star cast featuring the events based around the life of Wyatt Earp and the events that took place in Tombstone, Arizona in the early 1880's. This includes the legendary shootout at the O.K. Corral. Much of the film was based on historical events but Hollywood added their changes to make it more exciting. Starring Kurt Russel and Val Kilmer among other heavy weight actors, it was made to be a mark on Hollywood history. Overall a great movie if you haven't seen it, and Val Kilmer's performance as Doc Holliday is unforgettable.

Desperado

vistapointe.net

This 1995 film was the second chapter of the Mariachi trilogy by Robert Rodriguez. It stars Antonio Banderas and was a breakout role for actress Salma Hayek. It was a great action film with plenty of shooting and violence based in Mexico. This is a fun film if you're a fan of action, or of Antonio Banderas or Salma Hayek. They both did a great job in this film!

And now for some music from the decade!

Weezer

altpress.com

Formed in Los Angeles, California in 1992 and within two years had already signed a record deal. They have been a prolific band producing great music over the years. Their self titled debut album had multiple hit songs, probably the most memorable of the bunch was "Buddy Holly":

Spin Doctors

americansongwriter.com

This band from New York City formed in 1988 and hit it big with a couple big hits in 1991. Interesting side note John Popper was a member of this band before leaving to focus on the next band in this list. The two bands frequently play together. In 1991 their album "Full of Kryptonite" produced this hit song, "Two Princes":

Blues Traveler

jambase.com

Formed in 1987 in New Jersey, this band took their time to find their way into the mainstream. In 1990 they released their debut album that was self titled with the lead song "But Anyway". It didn't get much attention until their breakthrough album "four" in 1994 and later became a hit song. Here's "But Anyway":

No Doubt

rockandpop.cl

This band from Orange County, California formed in 1986 and took several years to really gain a lot of traction. They were a ska band at heart and although their early albums were great, they didn't get a large audience until 1995 with their album "Tragic Kingdom". This song technically came in 2001, but it still has that 90's feel, here's "Hey Baby":

Deep Blue Something

blognroll.com.br

This band formed in 1991 in Denton, Texas and is best known for their song I'm sharing here in this post. Although they produced several albums, in 1995 their album "Home" hit one out of the park with their one hit wonder, "Breakfast At Tiffany's":

That will wrap up this edition of Nineties Friday, I hope you enjoyed the movies and songs I shared! As I mentioned before please feel free to jump in and create your own post for this event, you could win some HSBI! If you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them below. Thank you for stopping by and most of all for all of your support. I hope you all have a great weekend!

Wow, that Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek movie I saw it so many times I can live a lifetime and not forget the script hahaha, I remember in those times Antonio had a couple of radio hits too 🤣 Here I am listening to Weezeer's song, every time I can I play it because I have it in my 90's playlist, it's a big hit. Hey Baby I remember more after the 2000's, but wow No Doubt is synonymous with the 90's. Thanks for sharing so many relics, how nice was that time ❤️

Thanks! They are some fun songs! Desperado was great, Salma sure looked great back then! I'm glad you liked it! How are you doing these days?

Super good, today is my first day off in weeks hahaha, but everything went great and that makes me happy, I hope you are well too.... Salma was really at her best 😍

I have enjoyed all the delivery before writing I started to listen to each of the videos, but the last video brought me a lot of memories of my 16 or 17 years when I listened to the group No Doubt I liked their songs, but to be honest what I liked to the point of wanting to meet Gwen Stefani, I do not know, I think, I loved her, and I found a very beautiful woman, she hooked me with her voice and her beauty.

I think I fell in love with her again, LOL.

She is a talented and very good looking woman, that's for sure!

Spin doctors!! lots of surf vibes lol!

They were big, I remember living in South America and they were on radio stations down there all the time!

Buena recopilación, muchas fueron mis favoritos, un gran saludo

Tombstone was an awesome movie now I just might have to watch it the second time Lol!😮
Hollywood did add some embellishments but well worth watching!👍😊

That really was a good movie wasn't it? I've been to Tombstone a few times, and it's still mind boggling just how tight the area was that they had that gunfight in!

I would love to see tombstone in person!😊
Old West history is always so interesting !👍

Oh I just realized that I still love cowboy movies, haven't watched one in a while but just those two are putting me in the mood.... forget about Xmas lets do some Cowboy movies

I always liked good old Clint Eastwood movies, have you ever seen Unforgiven?

I did and yes old blue eyes did damn good as a cowboy what I did not see is that I did not upvote this post.....so I guess my brain rot has definitely progressed

Tombstone was just on the other night. I was watching it for a bit. Such a good movie. You know, I have never seen Desperado all the way through, but there is one scene I have seen over and over again when I was a younger man! Spin Doctors were so unique when they came out. I still really dig their vibe!

I know what scene you are referring to! That's funny!

Great tunes as always. The week went by quickly.
