The nerd in me loves keeping track of the rain totals every evening. I chart it in a little book I leave by my bed. Yep, super nerdy. I just love being able to actually know and not guess that this year IS more rainy than last!
September seemed extra rainy this year, so I pulled out my chart from last year and did some comparisons. I say this as we sit here in the rainiest month (October) and have had no rain so far!
I keep track of the weather with our personal weather station that I got last year for Christmas. I've been tracking the weather every day since then. I do wind, rain, and temperature totals for the day.
Last year at this time, we had 16.93" of rain in September. The total for the year from January to September was 102.09" of rain. That's a lot of rain, but just wait!
In September of this year, we had 33.2" of rain! That's almost double last year's amount for the month! And then for the 9 month total, we had 169.17"! Wow! That is quite a difference!
Back in June of this year, I recorded the most rain in a 24 hour period of almost 4.5" of rain! This month, you can see we had multiple days of more than 2 inches! Lots and lots of rain around here, but thankfully it soaks in quickly and we don't walk around in a muddy mess.
