A little less than a month ago, I visited China, namely Beijing, and visited the Great Wall. Our guide told us with a grin that we were lucky, because when we were walking along the Wall, it started snowing. It doesn't happen often in those parts.
What surprised me during this walk? Cats! I've met at least 10 cats. What are they doing there? What do they eat? They sit quietly, don't bother people, and don't get under their feet. But people are not indifferent to cats, and everyone tries to stop by them and take pictures.
Some cats sit in stone pockets with their eyes closed and look at people with some disdain. They see thousands of people of different ages walking past them every day. This is usually called "Chinese tranquility."
That's about how everyone sits down next to the cat and takes out their smartphones, or rather, all people have smartphones in their hands.
Friends, pay attention to the background. People climb up and hold onto the wall. Because of the snow, the brickwork became slippery underfoot, and it was especially dangerous to descend. The young men had summer sneakers on their feet, and their soles were not suitable for walking on slippery snow. Yes, people were falling, and it wasn't funny, I wouldn't want to fall on such a stone floor in such a situation.
Red cat, it looks like I've never left, like I'm in my village. He looks well-fed and happy; he is at home, and we are walking around and disturbing him.
Some people tried to give food to the cats, but they ignored these donations.
They love cats in China. Cats help save food, and therefore, they are not offended. In fact, in many countries where the majority of the population in the recent past were peasants, cats are loved.
