A thing that many people figure out pretty quick when they get to speak with me about my passions or simply get to know me better, is that I am, and will always be, a father's daughter where I have plenty of hobbies that are more familiar amongst men, although the 21st century proved already for countless times that cooking can be done by both genders, just like make up, shooting a gun, repairing something, playing video games, and any other activity out there.
So, along with seeing @galenkp write about his weapons from time to time where, even if he probably doesn't know, these posts did tease me every single time, thinking about when I will finally be able to hold a gun in my hands and pull the trigger, but also with my passions for knives and weapons in general because of playing lots of shooter video games, two weeks ago I finally got the chance to shoot with an airsoft pistol.

This became possible quite spontaneously because I've been in a relationship for 7 years, and after a few years and lots of gifts offered without properly celebrating something or having a reason to offer them, both my boyfriend and I sort of ran out of ideas, and that's where some of the less common gifts are made.
While he got me a kitchen machine that I've been dreaming of for a while, I got him a pistol, which I know he also wanted to have in his collection, although he's been in the army before and had plenty of real weapons in his hands.

The weapon I got is a CZ75 SP-01 SHADOW - SPRING, where, even if I was tempted to get the automatic version, we both thought it's better to start with something soft, as I was planning to pull the trigger also, being my first time.
We received some ammo for free (the white ones), but I couldn't find any information about what they are made of. However, what I got for the pistol was 2800x Biodegradable Balls, 0.20 size, Dark Earth, because we love nature and we have no intention to harm or pollute it during our shooting sessions.

What I really enjoyed about this pistol is that it comes with a red target that is very helpful for a newbie like me. Additionally, the reload process and getting the weapon ready after each shot make everything so easy, entertaining and safe to use.
We were actually on the way to the woods to have a BBQ with the family when we got the notification that the courier was going to deliver this weapon on the same day, so we made our way to the courier, very excited to get our new toy, before continuing the plans for the rest of the day. Nevertheless, the gun stirred some curiosity in the eyes of my parents, not being sure if they should share my excitement or be cautious about it, but once they saw that everything was safe, they could breathe normally again.
After quite a few empty bullet magazines and way too many shots to remember, I can say that I am happy to finally tick down one of the activities I wanted to enjoy in this life. Of course, there is still the option to go to a proper shooting range where you use real guns and get trained for the whole experience, but while these cost way too much in my opinion, I think the airsoft guns still remain a good alternative for now.
Not to mention the freedom they offer when you see all the bullets getting out of the pistol with each shot, trying your best to shoot the target and test out new limits. It's an experience that I enjoyed a lot from the first time, and I am sure the feeling will stay even after 100 similar experiences.

Ah fun!
A friend was a shooting and firearm enthusiast and I used to love going to the range for some shooting! He has a couple CZs (9mil) in his collection and I loved shooting those.
Many people like to mount their soap boxes to protest someone else’s situation, preferences or lifestyle. I know plenty of people who “don’t like guns” for their own reasons but the permit-holding shooters I know are the most responsible and overly careful people I know and I do love hitting the range with them.
Fun and, perhaps not unanimously popular opinion, a neat life skill to have!
It really depends, I have no problem with people having guns, as long as they know how to use them and are not crazy. But personally I have no interest in guns, I have essential tremor no way I could hit a target, probably hit someone while trying to hit a wall. Actually that is also the reason I do not drive a car. So you see, some people might actually be menaces if they have a gun (or drive a car).
It’s good that you know your limits and stay on the safe side as that’s real responsibility, not fear. And honestly, not everyone needs to be into guns or driving because life works fine without both. Thank you for sharing your perspective so openly. 😁
Thanks for sharing this! I totally get what you mean, the people who actually handle firearms legally and responsibly are usually the most careful ones. It really changed my perspective too. And you’re right, it’s a fun experience and definitely an interesting skill to try at least once.
But as I said, I am playing with the airsoft ones, which are basically in between toys and real weapons. A lot safer anyway :)
i had a pellet gun way back in the days. i am pretty sure what you have fires way more accurate than what i had back then.
Haha, those old pellet guns had a mind of their own. 😅 This one is definitely a bit more accurate, but the nostalgia of the older ones is unbeatable!
oh i had a whole season of fear as it got quite common and strays were everywhere.
Absolutely. Safety first, always.
