Yay for getting a walk/hike in!
I like hiking more than running
I don't mind walking in the rain back home if I get caught in it (it's generally nice and cooling especially if you've been doing a lot and/or it's been a particularly humid day) but I wouldn't go out if it was already raining, and definitely not here where I would freeze to death XD As beautiful as that walk looked I don't think I would have survived it, my lungs despise the cold air and something in my shoulder despises the cold in general.
The cold is problematic and I'm with you on the why would someone choose to walk in the rain, thing. It wasn't bucketing though, well, at one point it did and that sucked, but it was light enough to make the hike not too disagreeable. I guess I was loath to allow nature's less than perfect weather to affect my day and dictate to me. So, I got out there and amongst it. Besides, I felt somewhat guilty for wimping out on the run that morning.
