Today, we’re introducing Hive Keeper - a lightweight, independent, privacy-first Hive wallet built for simplicity, reliability, and long-term sustainability.

Hive Keychain has been a foundational tool in the Hive ecosystem and continues to evolve - including exploring multichain capabilities and additional services.

Hive Keeper takes a different approach:

This isn’t about replacing existing tools - it’s about offering an alternative philosophy for those who prefer a more minimal and self-contained experience.

Hive Keeper is designed to operate without reliance on external backend services.

No proxy APIs
No centralized swap services
No WebSocket infrastructure
No third-party notification systems

Everything works directly with:

🔐 On-chain first approach

Where possible, Hive Keeper favors direct on-chain interactions:

Swaps → Hive internal market + Hive Engine DEX
Blockchain data → direct RPC calls
Prices → direct from Coingecko API (no proxy layer)

No intermediary services. No escrow layer.

🧼 Simplicity by design

Hive Keeper intentionally keeps scope narrow by avoiding features that require additional infrastructure or complexity:

No multichain / EVM integrations
No backend-mediated swaps
No multisig server layer
No analytics or tracking
No fiat on-ramp integrations
No external notification dependencies

🧠 Unified Extension Protocol (`window.hive`)

One of the key improvements introduced with Hive Keeper is a step toward standardization.

Today, different Hive wallets expose different globals:

window.hive_keychain
window.peakvault
etc.

This creates additional work for developers.

Shared API namespace across wallets
Standard methods (requestBroadcast, requestTransfer, etc.)
Identity flags (isKeeper, isKeychain, isVault)
Support for multiple wallets via provider registry
Backward compatibility with existing integrations

Inspired by similar standards in other ecosystems, this approach aims to improve:

Hive Keeper implements this today, with the intention to collaborate and explore broader ecosystem adoption over time. We have submitted PR to both Keychain and Vault extensions, hope they will accept unified approach and make easier integration for dapp developers.
