Hardfork 28 is on the Horizon!
If you haven't heard yet about HF 28, get ready as it's closing in!
While not many major changes will be part of it, every HF carries with it some excitement, anticipation, and some risks ( though thankfully we never had issues before - here at Hive :) )
So as @gtg highlighted in his post "Brace yourself, hardfork is coming,", a testnet API is already available to test things out and hash out any potential issues.
You can dive right into the testnet and get a firsthand look at the future of Hive. This is a perfect chance to test your applications and prepare for the mainnet release.
Explore the Future with HAF Upgraded Block Explorer
For over a year, we have been committed to expanding not only HAF backend APIs (such as Proxied Accounts API, Account Balances API, Hive RichList API,...) but also building an amazing HAF block explorer, Hivescan.info, which you can now use as a portal to the Hardfork 28 testnet.
To begin your exploration, you'll need to connect to the testnet node. Simply navigate to the footer of Hivescan.info to add a new custom node.
Here’s a quick guide:
- Add Custom Node: In the footer of the page, you'll find the "Technical" section displaying the current "Hive node" and "Explorer backend API." To test the new hardfork, you can add a custom testnet node.
- Enter Testnet URL: An option to "Add Custom Node" will be available. Click on it and input the testnet API URL - https://api.fake.openhive.network.
- Switch to Provider: After adding the node, you can seamlessly "Switch to provider" to the testnet for both the Hive node and the Explorer backend API.
Make sure you perform this process for both **Hive node **and Explorer backend API links in the footer.
Our Commitment to growing Hive via HAF-based apps
For 1.5 years, we've been working on enhancing the Hive experience for users and devs. As detailed in our post, "Hive Dev Proposal 2", we've been focused on delivering robust and efficient API endpoints based on HAF-apps. Our efforts have been geared towards growing a seamless and powerful backend that benefits the entire Hive ecosystem, users and devs alike.
We are also happy to report that our backend development work / APIs will be bundled into the official HAF release 1.28
Support Our Continued Development
To continue our work on developing and maintaining HAF backend and frontend applications, we rely on your support. We invite you to support our DHF proposal.
Your vote will enable us to keep building and innovating for a better Hive for everyone.

I hope the hardfork all goes smoothly. We shouldn't expect too many radical changes, but things will need tweaking and fixing. I heard someone say there were changes to voting power, but I have not seen the full details on that.
My understanding is that all votes will give the same $ value now instead of the first one having a bigger value and so on :)
Here's the intial request and I think it explains it pretty well: https://hive.blog/hive-139531/@miosha/request-quality-of-life-change
Ah, that was two years ago. My habit has been to vote with varying power until my voting mana got down to about 80% so it could recover a bit overnight. The rewards I give gets lower as that percentage drops. That seems a reasonable way to limit how much you can vote. If I understand correctly the latter would not happen after this change. What happens if my mana gets really low?
The analogy I saw for mana is that is a bucket being filled at a constant rate (until full) and each vote is like scooping some out.
I just want my votes to have maximum impact for others, so I wonder if I need to change strategy. The impact seems more on smaller accounts who may not be able to vote above the dust threshold if they vote several times, so more posts may get something. In general the rewards should not change much as everyone will have the same ability to give consistent vote power.
Every time I think I understand these things I seem to miss something :)
From now on, all your votes with the same weight will give the same reward until you run out of voting mana, so if you want to reflect the old behaviour you should decrease your weight by 2% everytime you vote. If you keep your strategy you will actually reward a bit more because voting order won't affect the rewards. I mean, until now, your tenth vote, even though it was 100%, did not have the same impact as your first vote with full mana.
I would probably vote with a constant level, well I vary it anyway to manage my VP. That could change going forward. I just want to give out decent rewards. I do small ones one Snaps and a constant value would be good for that.
