Proposal for Hive Core Development and Second Layer Integrations

BooneDevLogo-blue.png

Summary

This is a proposal to offer full time development services to the Hive ecosystem as well as developer support, lessons, and advice for the next six months.

Who Is @netuoso

As many of you likely know, I have been around the Steem/Hive network since around 2016 when I began offering my support and assistance with various open source projects. I have worked directly with Steemit to provide security patches, infrastructure support, and community development coordination.

When Steemit sold to Tron, I helped the Steem community (developers, leaders, organizers, etc) come together to branch away from Steem and create an entirely new blockchain that we know now as Hive. I provided both the actual code used as well as helped coordinate over 20-30+ individuals in order to make the transition successful.

Since then I created the HiveDevs development community and Discord, provided core dev updates, laid the framework for the Hive Ledger hardware application, and more. I had to take a step away from Hive due to personal and professional reasons, but I am back full force and ready to step back into a full time role in the Hive ecosystem.

Technical Background

I have been working professionally as a developer for almost 15 years at this point with a vast majority of that time specialized in cryptocurrency based development. My very early career started in application development (Ruby/Rails) and quickly moved to backend database deployment and management, server operations, embedded device development, then, of course, cryptocurrency and smart contract development.

I have mainly worked for various companies that were in the startup stage; however, I have contracted for companies of all sizes up to the Fortune 500 level.

My tech stack includes, but is not limited to:

  • C++
  • Javascript (Node.js)
  • Ruby (Rails)
  • Python
  • Solidity
  • EOSIO
  • Steem/Hive
  • Ethereum
  • AWS cloud
  • Docker

Proposal Details

Due to changes in my personal and professional lives, I am ready to return to the Hive ecosystem as a full time developer. I am willing and able to offer a minimum of no less than 25 hours each week to working on the things that are most valuable to Hive such as: light accounts, smart contracts, a messaging system, and more.

I will attend the weekly Hive development meetings to ensure that I am constantly in touch with the community and core developers progress. The majority of my focus will be centered around what the lead developers and community leaders agree are the most important features/issues at the time.

For the moment, I will spend the first week or two reaching out to these individuals in order to build a task list of important items. On top of this, I am working on a website that will track the progress of my activities as well as allow people to get in contact with me for an questions or concerns. After this period of time, I hope to have a list of action items that can be prioritized and worked on.

I have a small team of developers that I work with in order to better facilitate completing complex problems or issues effectively and in a timely manner. If things accelerate, I would love to be able to bring more onboard and potentially create a branch department of Boone Development that is specifically for Hive development.

On top of this, I have been in talks with several teams on the UX Network blockchain to get Hive supported via the IBC protocol. If completed, this will enable Hive to be natively transferred from Hive to any supported EOSIO blockchain, opening up a world of possibilities due to the smart contract system already present on EOSIO chains. Let's work to get Hive seen and used around the world like we know it should be!

This proposal will run at a daily rate of 250 HBD for six months at which time I will submit a follow-up along with status and progress achieved during the life the proposal, including constant weekly progress updates.

Thank you for taking the time to read my proposal. It would mean a great deal to me to have your support and I really want to hear from the entire community what you would like to see added to Hive in the coming months. The Hive ecosystem has been a passion of mine since it was launched and I am extremely excited to be able to return to offer my services full time.

Sort:

I see absolutely no reason to support this proposal as the proposal itself including the person behind it isn't convincing.

You've had proposals before netuoso, you bailed on Hive several times so far. Powering down all your stake, not even spending 5 minutes to check your witness or paying any attention to Hive in general.

I find it odd that you create another DHF proposal in hopes of getting accepted the moment you come back.

Prove yourself first, before asking for the blockchain to pay you.

Understood. I am providing value added work (and some of it detailed above) already regardless of proposal support. If people would rather wait until a time in the future to support that is absolutely fine of course. There is never a guarantee of support and I will not be waiting for support to continue providing my services here.

Pretty sure we already paid for like 3 months of work that we haven't yet received. Took a while for a major stake holders to notice he'd disappeared (except for the ability to cash out) last time. Making that up might be a good way to prove oneself

Sounds like he wants some “easy” money.

Thank you for your witness vote!

Can you give some more context so users can get the full picture of what happened?

He has previously had two proposals.

One was Vessel, an app that enabled easy management of multiple Hive accounts. He did not fully deliver on this one, abandoned it. As far as I know, it was patched by @rishi556 and a few others later to even continue working and/or addition of additional features.

His second proposal was basically this, promises of SMT (Hive-integrated L2) and core development, it got funded. He hasn't pushed a single proper commit or any of the promised features to Hive repositories and completely disappeared. He went no-communication with everyone, simply sold all the HBD he got from the proposal, and powered down every single Hive Power he has on his account. Even forgot to update his witness, despite being Top 20, causing him to affect the chain negatively.

Thanks, sounds like I can't in all conscience support this proposal.

working on the things that are most valuable to Hive such as: light accounts, smart contracts, a messaging system, and more.

@peak.open has a dev working on an open source encrypted messaging system for all apps to use. As well as a bunch of other open source items.

Seems like there is a lot of interest in HAF related features but haven't seen much being built on it yet but seems like there is a lot of possibility.

If you're working to rebuild trust and are gonna just work on random things in the meantime I look forward to seeing what you do... i'd suggest some smaller items for starter

If I remember correctly you added valuable work to Hive but showed very invaluable character traits (sorry if I can't express it much better). I was sad to see that potential being slumbered like that.
In light of that I would appreciate if you could adress that issue (if that is not too private), and maybe show that the people you will have to work together with are happy to do so.
Maybe the key question is if you are sure that you can be a team player.

I seem to remember voting on proposals involving you before that never went anywhere.

If you want to build anything go right ahead. Maybe you can even look for compensation after it has been delivered but until then I won't support random money grabs.

Do the work first and show us you can deliver something first.

Ye, no. You are not going just rip Hive off again.

You are a skilled developer. The problem is the way you vanished doesn't recommend that you receive funding upfront. If you are serious about this, get in contact with the others to see what changed while you were gone, and then deliver first on something useful for Hive (ideally a priority that results after consultations, rather than a random thing). Trust is easy to lose and hard to rebuild. Good luck!

Eat a dick.

Thank you so much for your support of my @v4vapp proposals in the past, my previous one expired this week.

I'd be really happy if you would continue supporting my work by voting on this proposal for the next 6 months:

Additionally you can also help this work with a vote for Brianoflondon's Witness using KeyChain or HiveSigner

If you have used v4v.app I'd really like to hear your feedback, and if you haven't I'd be happy to hear why or whether there are other things you want it to do.
