Brazilian population
A very delicate point in today's India is racism. A subject that went from taboo to protests in just a few years.
The term racism can be used in different situations but in Brazil, when seen alone, it refers to the black population.
There were no black people in Brazil before the Portuguese.
Slavery Comes
Current data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) indicate that for the first time in history the non-white population exceeds the white population in the country.
This is because we use the term brown for an individual who sees himself as a mix between races. Data is self-declared.
Structural racism
Yesterday a cultural event took place at a university where I was present and I was able to hear the following story.
He is a young black man, with long hair, wearing simple clothes and able to speak into a microphone.
His audience: workers, university students, teachers.
He speaks about him bluntly. He was a student at this institution, walked these paths, sat at these tables.
Remember how hard he tried and how long it took to get any results.
Remember the classes where explanations of the world were given through great thinkers, and how this did not connect with your peripheral reality.
But his biggest memory is of chess classes. As soon as he started to get good results he started to be noticed by the instructor. After a while the victories came, and the outstanding students began to be defeated. Until at one point the teacher himself was defeated.
What could be a story of overcoming is actually a story of murder. As his prominence grew among chess players, verbal insults also grew, to the point that the teacher himself even said "you play dumb ass".
And in oppressive environments like this, we murdered a potential chess player, who abandoned his chess course. We also murdered a university student who dropped out of university and went to work as a packer in a market.
The big turnaround?
The defeated human being returned to the environment that defined him as a person of lesser value and, with the microphone in hand, he can extol the need for change, for new times, where everyone is reaccepted regardless of skin color or religious creed or physical appearance.
In a simple way and with frank language, he conveyed his message and delivered his speech very appropriately. He was applauded and surrounded by those present, most of whom were minority students: black, gay, degenerate. Everyone who listened to the one who suffered all possible types of harassment, and who is now a deputy in the state of Paraná.
There was no big turnaround, there was no request for forgiveness. And it wouldn't even be appropriate because the aggressors of that time and today wouldn't be there to listen to any black deputy.

População brasileira
Um ponto muito delicado nosndias atuais é o racismo. Um assunto que passou de tabu para protestos em pucos anos.
O termo racismo pode ser usado em diferentes situações mas no brasil, quando visto sozinho, refere-se a população negra.
Não havia negros no Brasil antes dos portugueses.
Vem a Escravidão
Dados atuais do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE) apontam que pela primeira vez na historia a população não-branca supera a população branca no pais.
Isso porque usamos o termo pardo para o indivíduo que se vê como uma mistura entre as raças. Os dados são autodeclarados.
O racismo estrutural
Ontem ocorreu um evento cultural em uma universidade onde eu estava presente e pude ouvir o relato que vai a seguir.
Trata-se de um jovem negro, de cabelo espaçoso, usando roupas simples e com a possobilidade de fala ao microfone.
Seu público: trabalhadores, universitários, docentes.
Sua fala é sem rodeios. Ele foi aluno dessa instituição, andou por estes caminhos, sentou nestas mesas.
Lembra do quanto se esforçava e como demorou para ter algum resultado.
Lembra das aulas onde as explicações do mundo eram dadas atraves de grandes pensadores, e de como isso não se conectava com sua realidade periférica.
Mas sua maior lembrança é das aulas de xadrez. Tão logo começou a ter bons resultados passou a ser notado pelo instrutor. Após um tempo as vitórias vieram, e os alunos destaques comecaram ser derrotados. Até que em um momento o próprio professor foi vencido.
O que poderia ser uma história de superação na verdade é uma história de assassinato. Conforme seu destaque crescia junto aos enxadristas, ofensas verbais também cresciam, ao ponto que o proprio professor chegou a dizer "joga nego burro".
E por ambientes opressores como esse, assassinamos um potencial enxadrista, que abandonou o curso de xadrez. Assassinamos também um universitário que abandonou a universidade e foi trabalhar como empacotador em um mercado.
A grande virada?
O ser humano derrotado retornou ao ambiente que o definiu como alfuem de menor valor e afora com o microfone em mãos pode exaltar a necessidade de mudanças, de novos tempos, onde todos sejam reapeitados independente de cor de pele ou creso religioso ou aparência física.
De forma simples e com linguagem franca, passou seu recado e fez seu discurso com muita propriedade. Foi aplaudido e cercado pelos presentes, na sua maioria alunos das minorias: pretos, gays, degenerados. Todos que ouviram aquele que sofreu todos os tipos de assédio possiveis, e que hoje é deputado no estado do Paraná.
Nao houve grande virada, nao houve pedido de perdão. E nem aeria adequado pois os agressores daquele tempo e do tempo atual nao estariam ali para ouvir um negro deputado qualquer.

Racism in wrong in all forms, it's a shame it still exists in today's world. But for some they will never accept others that aren't like them, probably what they were taught from youth. What a shame that student was treated so badly!
