Participating, Not Chasing: My Take on Winterfest in Splinterlands

in FreeCompliments9 days ago

Hello, Splinterlands warriors.

Winterfest is coming to an end, and somehow it feels perfectly aligned with the year-end mood—slightly reflective, a little hopeful, and of course… a bit reckless.

I finally decided to participate in Winterfest this time. Not purely because of FOMO, but more because I felt, “Well, while there’s still time and I still have some HBD.” Even though I’m clearly not a whale in the crypto world, it felt like a waste to just let my HBD sit idle. So I decided to convert it.

Using the convert feature in Splinterlands, I exchanged 5 HBD into Credits. The process was smooth enough, no drama. Credits, as we all know, are the common currency in the Splinterlands ecosystem—used to buy packs, cards on the market, and special items. In short, Credits are the main fuel for all kinds of in-game “mischief.”

Since my free HBD was only that much, my choice fell on the Fine Gift. I didn’t force myself to go for the highest tier, because I believe enjoyment isn’t about how expensive something is, but how sincere you are when opening it. Besides, buying a gift box also means getting some Credits back from what’s inside.

After the transaction was complete, I went back to the Items menu, then to the Other tab. There, I saw a token called Winterfest 2025 Fine Gift Box. Interestingly, this token can actually be sent to someone else. But well, my intention from the start was to open it. After coming this far, why send it away?

So I opened it.

And as expected, the Fine Gift Box isn’t as “wow” as the highest-tier gift box, but the contents still felt worthwhile. I got a skin, a Winterfest 2025 Mags Token, and what really put a smile on my face was 3 Conclave Arcana Starter Packs. For me, extra packs always have their own charm—a small hope that feels big.

I opened the three packs right away. Honestly, my expectations were simple: “If I get even one epic, I’ll be grateful.” But that’s life—sometimes what comes isn’t what we hope for.

There were no Epic or Legendary cards inside. A bit disappointed? Of course. But on the other hand, I still got several new cards that weren’t previously in my collection. And for a collector like me, new cards still have value—not just in numbers, but in stories.

For those who are curious, here’s the pack opening link:

What’s interesting about this Winterfest isn’t just the rewards, but the gift box feature itself. It gives a more “seasonal event” feeling. We’re not just buying packs, but taking part in a moment. On top of that, from this Fine Gift Box I also got 20 My Fortune Entries, which means there’s still further hope through the Weekly Fortune Draw.

Maybe my pack results this time were nothing special. But the joy was still there. There was the feeling of celebrating together, the experience of trying a new feature, and a small lesson: don’t rely too much on instant results. In Splinterlands, just like in life, process and consistency are often more important than a single lucky moment.

Closing

This Winterfest was simple but memorable for me. Not luxurious, not spectacular, but enough to close the year with a small smile. The strategy to take from moments like this? Adjust to your means, choose a realistic gift box, and enjoy the process. Don’t chase results—chase experiences.

If the Fortune Draw brings a surprise later, that’s a bonus. If not, at least I’ve joined in the Winterfest celebration and added another story to my long journey with Splinterlands. And for me, that’s enough.

!PIZZA !LOLZ !LUV

Kalau dihitung, nilainya hampir setara seporsi makan fastfood yang bikin kenyang. Tapi permainan bukan urusan perut Om.
