I wanted to submit an entry last week for @freecompliments FreeCompliments Weekly Art Contest, but I couldn't do it. I was so busy that when I got some free time, I just lay on my bed and read some manhwa or manga. xD
Anyway, I took a day off today, so I feel rested. Because of that, I got the time to paint! It took me about one hour and fifteen minutes to finish this piece. It took me longer because I was chatting with my younger cousin. haha I miss him! Oh well... here's a GIF version of my painting. :)
It's been a while since I painted something space-related. I've been doing anime fan art or landscape paintings these days, but it's nice to change it once in a while.
I want to share some of my progress shots for this artwork. I used acrylic paint and some acrylic markers on a watercolor pad. Let's start!
I started with prepping the watercolor pad by covering the sides using some masking tape. Then, I wetted the paper with some water before applying bits of acrylic paint. Starting from the outer right corner, I used black, blue, blue plus red, red plus yellow, and yellow. Then just more blue on the opposite side.
Then, I mixed them using a paintbrush. I wanted the lightest color to be at the center (-ish) part. I added some paint accordingly to make some of the colors pop up. :)
Using a toothbrush, I sprayed some white paint on it. I also blended some of the white paint to make the background brighter, then used the toothbrush again to form more stars in my galaxy.
Once the paint was dry, I outlined the earth on the lower left corner and a full moon on the opposite side using a pencil.
I started painting the earth. I covered it with white paint first before adding some green and blue... I made some adjustments, too. You can see it in the next photo.
Using a sponge, I added some white paint over the blue and green. I also repainted part of them using some acrylic markers. At the same time, I also painted the moon. I used white acrylic paint first, then some gray and yellow acrylic markers for the detailing.
I took out the masking tape around it and added my username and signature. :) I actually like how it turned out. Mixing paint is always so fun and satisfying to do.

Lastly, here's a closer view and selfie together with my painting. I enjoyed it... and I'm happy to see the result. Outerspace is always so fascinating to me... it's so vast that we don't know what's out there. I also love the moon a lot. I tend to draw or paint the moon. It's lovely and it makes me feel that I'm not alone.
I love the earth as well... and I hope it will soon heal from all the things that people like you and me do to it.
Anyway, I'll end this post here. I hope you enjoyed my painting! See you around! (^^,)/

What an awesome entry for the Weekly Art Contest. Your art painting looks labor-intensive and intricately spotted outlining the galaxy with the white paint. I wish I could draw like that. It's truly a gift to visualize an image, then make it come to life.
Thanks for sharing. Take care and have a good rest of your week.
