In this cold weather, I wanted to draw pictures on uchiwa fans, so I procured some uchiwa fans made of bamboo covered with Japanese paper and painted pictures on them. At the Design Festa in May this year, I decided to exhibit not only paintings but also a variety of one-of-a-kind goods, and painted a picture on an uchiwa as the first step. This time, I used only acrylic paint.
Nowadays, it is possible to make one-of-a-kind items by on-demand printing, but it is expensive for one or two items. On the other hand, I was afraid that if I made a large quantity, I would have a mountain of inventory. So I made hand-painted goods. No two pieces are the same.
Next time, I would like to draw fireworks, morning glories, starry skies, and so on, to give them a more seasonal feel. Uchiwa fans were rather easy to draw. I am also thinking of making tenugui hand towels and eco-bags, but I have to remove the glue and do other pretreatments for fabric products, which is a bit time-consuming.
I would like to draw about 10 pictures, so I will post more when I have done so.

この寒い中、うちわに絵を描きたくて、竹に和紙を貼ってあるうちわを調達してきて、絵を描きました。今年5月のデザインフェスタで、絵だけではなく1点もののグッズを色々出品しようと思い、第1弾としてうちわに絵を描きました。今回はアクリル絵具のみで、塗りたくりました。
1点ものは印刷物でも今はオンデマンド印刷でできることはできるんですが、やはり1点とか2点とかだと高くつきます。かと言って大量に作ると在庫の山が怖いです。なので手描きグッズを作りました。同じ絵はありません。
次はもう少し季節感を出して、花火とか朝顔とか星空とかを描いてみようかなとも思います。うちわはわりと描きやすかったです。ほかに手ぬぐいとかエコバッグを考えているのですが、布製品は糊を落とすとか前処理をしなければならず少々手間がかかります。
10枚くらい描きたいので、また描けたら投稿します。
