On this occasion I want to share with you a song widely listened to in my country between the 90s and early 2000s called "A puro dolor" performed by the Puerto Rican group [Son by four]
En esta ocasión quiero compartirles una canción muy escuchada en mi país entre los años 90 y principios del 2000 llamada “A puro dolor” interpretada por el grupo Portorriqueño [Son by four]
This song was written by Panamanian singer-songwriter Omar Alfanno and released as the main single from the second studio album of the same name Son by Four (2000). Oscar Llord produced two versions of the track for the album; one as salsa and the other as a ballad. The ballad version was arranged by Alejandro Jaén. "A puro dolor" is popularly attributed, wrongly, to the group Sin Bandera, for their similarities in the style of ballad.
Esta canción fue escrita por el cantautor panameño Omar Alfanno y lanzada como el sencillo principal del segundo álbum de estudio homónimo Son by Four (2000). Óscar Llord produjo dos versiones de la pista para el álbum; uno como salsa y el otro como balada. La versión balada fue arreglada por Alejandro Jaén. «A puro dolor» se le atribuye popularmente, de manera errónea, al grupo Sin Bandera, por sus similitudes en el estilo de balada.
The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks and became the first of the longest-running list in its history, spending 20 weeks at the top; this record was broken five years later by the Colombian singer Shakira with "La tortura", who was 25 weeks at number one. "A puro dolor" also reached the Billboard Hot 100; this led to the recording of an English version of the song entitled "Purest of Pain", which was also recorded in the United States.
La canción alcanzó el número uno en el Billboard Hot Latin Tracks y se convirtió en la primera de la lista de mayor duración de su historia, pasando 20 semanas en la cima; este récord lo rompió cinco años después la cantante colombiana Shakira con «La tortura», que estuvo 25 semanas en el número uno. «A puro dolor» también alcanzó a ingresar en el Billboard Hot 100; esto condujo a la grabación de una versión en inglés de la canción titulada «Purest of Pain», que también se registró en los Estados Unidos.
