Hi guys, its your girl Lorah and this is my entry for the Vibes web3 music competition, week 39. And for this week, I’ll be singing Hopelessly Devoted to You from the movie Grease. But before I start, I just want to share that my birthday was last week Wednesday, and the picture i attached was for my birthday photoshoot.🎉🎉so yeah
So, about this song. I’ve always considered myself an old-school girlie when it comes to music and movies. I wasn’t even born when Grease came out, it was released in the late 1970s, way back in 1978 but something about older music and the stories they tell just really draws me in. I love the way old-school songs carry so much raw emotion, and Grease is one of those movies that people say is a classic for a reason.
The first time I came across Grease was actually on a weekend when I looking for an old-school movie to watch cause ive watched so many. And ive heard about it before, especially because it’s a musical and i love musicals so much, but I had never really sat down to watch it. When I finally did, I found myself falling in love with the music. The movie itself is full of fun, dancing, and that vibrant 70s energy but then hopelessly devoted became my favorite.
That was the song that really stuck with me. it felt like she was pouring her whole heart into it. Even though the story is set decades ago, I could connect with the feelings of love, longing, and vulnerability. It made me realize that music truly doesn’t have an age it’s timeless.
It was even used as a sound on TikTok last year.
So yeah this os my own version of Hopelessly Devoted to You. I hope you feel the emotion in it, the way I did the first time I heard it. Thank you.
