I'm aware that racing games can be hit or miss depending of the style and how easily approachable they are (arcade racers that have a simple/low entry barrier are probably the most popular in some circles because of it...aside from Mario Kart which is THE most popular racer because it is the big exemplar of that), but at least I'd say that this one has been more approachable than GT and Forza, though chances are that being somewhat used to driving with some level of carefulness is due to GT's license tests. At least there's the easier difficulty settings and Flashback for new players, but I do understand that most newcomers/casuals to racers would definitely want to stick with NFS.
The graphics indeed did age well; the screenshots and quality in my video aren't the highest because of how I had to reduce some settings for a stable framerate in my PC (plus my OBS settings) so at least fidelity-wise it can be much higher than what's seen here, which I'm guessing it has been showcased (or even enhanced through mods) in other videos in Youtube.
