Desde hace algún tiempo no posteo nada, me he quedado atascada en un bache creativo del que no pensaba salir, pero he visto esta nueva iniciativa en donde nos preguntan cuál era nuestro villano favorito y no he podido parar de darle vueltas a esa pregunta, no soy alguien que juega muchos videojuegos pero aun asi creo que me topado con algunos grandes antagonistas en muchos de los juegos que tengo. Ahora bien, no voy a sentarme acá y escribir como Bowser, por ejemplo, fue un gran impacto en los videojuegos allá por los ochenta, yo quería escribir algo más personal, sobre una historia que de verdad me hubiese marcado un antes y un después en como veo a los videojuegos.
Así que empecé a buscar, nada complicado pues todos los juegos que he jugado en mi vida caben en una carpeta pequeña en mi PC, plus algunos otros que tengo en mis consolas, y aunque hay unos pocos villanos de renombre en estos juegos creo que encontré el que sin duda es tanto uno de los mejores villanos de los videojuegos como mi favorito.
Si han jugado Borderlands en su segunda entrega encontraran la respuesta, Handsome Jack es igualmente un gran personaje con una carisma inusual, y también un gran ególatra maniático que planea hacerse con el control de todo el planeta de Pandora, es el enemigo principal de Borderlands 2 aunque este aparece en todas las entregas teniendo roles mayores y menores.
Jack es despiadado, pero al final del juego siento lastima por él, lo hemos tenido cargando toda la aventura en nuestra oreja burlándose de nosotros y hasta en algunos casos amenazándonos, pero con el tiempo hemos aprendido a simpatizar con el hombre, esto creo también hace de Borderlands 2 un juego magnifico, entre todos los disparos, explosiones y sangre, un hombre en nuestro oído parece ser la amenaza mayor y no usa una pistola, sino el dinero. Jack es presidente de la corporación Hyperion que se encarga de desarrollar tecnología y de gobernar al planeta de Pandora.
Pero Jack no solo quiere gobernar, quiere acabar con todos los bandidos del planeta para que haya una relativa paz, por lo que emprende la búsqueda de un ente antiguo con poderes más allá de lo imaginado para poder al fin realmente traer paz a Pandora. Todo esto suena al arco de personaje de un héroe no? Veras, es que Jack en el juego, si piensa que es el héroe, a su retorcida manera el piensa que puede traer estabilidad al planeta y ese objetivo se consolida también en otras dos entregas, por lo que es difícil no encontrarse en sintonía con lo que el villano quiere.
Aunque detrás de toda esta armadura y dinero se vea un salvador de Pandora, la realidad es que cuando se enfrenta a los cazadores, muestra sus verdaderos colores, haciéndonos ver a un cobarde más sobreviviendo como puede a todo el caos del planeta, si, ha conseguido mucho poder con Hyperion y ha dominado el planeta, pero mucho de eso termina cuando lo vencemos, su carisma se pierde, su motivación se pierde, y yo no puedo parar de decirme que el juego sin el es menos interesante. O puede que eso sea solo yo..

I haven't posted anything for a while now, I've been stuck in a creative rut that I wasn't planning on getting out of, but I saw this new initiative where they ask us what our favorite villain was and I couldn't stop turning that question around, I'm not someone who plays a lot of video games but even so I think I've come across some great antagonists in many of the games I own. Now, I'm not going to sit here and write about how Bowser, for example, was a big impact on video games back in the eighties, I wanted to write something more personal, about a story that really marked a before and after in how I see video games.
So I started searching, nothing complicated as all the games I have played in my life fit in a small folder on my PC, plus some others I have on my consoles, and although there are a few big name villains in these games I think I found what is undoubtedly both one of the best villains in video games and my favorite.
If you have played Borderlands in its second installment you will find the answer, Handsome Jack is equally a great character with an unusual charisma, and also a great maniacal egomaniac who plans to take control of the entire planet of Pandora, is the main enemy of Borderlands 2 although this appears in all deliveries having major and minor roles.
Jack is ruthless, but by the end of the game I feel sorry for him, we have had him carrying the whole adventure in our ear mocking us and even in some cases threatening us, but over time we have learned to sympathize with the man, this I think also makes Borderlands 2 a magnificent game, among all the shooting, explosions and blood, a man in our ear seems to be the biggest threat and he does not use a gun, but money. Jack is president of the Hyperion corporation that is in charge of developing technology and governing the planet of Pandora.
But Jack doesn't just want to rule, he wants to wipe out all the bandits on the planet so there can be relative peace, so he sets out on a quest to find an ancient entity with powers beyond imagination so he can finally really bring peace to Pandora. This all sounds like a hero's character arc doesn't it? You see, it's that Jack in the game, if he thinks he's the hero, in his own twisted way he thinks he can bring stability to the planet and that goal is solidified in two other installments as well, so it's hard not to find yourself in tune with what the villain wants.
Although behind all this armor and money he looks like a savior of Pandora, the reality is that when he faces the hunters, he shows his true colors, making us see one more coward surviving as he can to all the chaos of the planet, yes, he has achieved a lot of power with Hyperion and has dominated the planet, but much of that ends when we defeat him, his charisma is lost, his motivation is lost, and I can not stop telling myself that the game without him is less interesting. Or maybe that's just me...

Handsome Jack is a cool character. I like how he both looks like and is an asshole. I sort of got sick of him about halfway through Borderlands 2 though I have to admit. He did however give us that one funny quest where we had to jump off the cliff and kill ourselves. Loved it for the humor.

Totalmente, Jack es un villano muy épico, su poder es brutal y nos atormenta todo el juego, si, al final también sentí un poco de pena por él pero que va, se lo merece! 😆

Me alegra de que hayas podido encontrar algo de inspiración para participar en el concurso de la comunidad, a veces hay que hacer una pequeña pausa para volver con mayor energía, esperemos que logre mantenerse presente para seguir compartiendo.
Es bastante curioso porque también elegí a Jack el 'Guapo' como mi villano favorito, recordar aquellos momentos grandiosos donde no podía parar de reír por algo que hubiese dicho... sobre todo porque el humor que tiene es justo el que a mí me gusta, negro y crudo.
Borderlands tiene muchos puntos positivos como videojuegos pero la narrativa con ese humor característico en donde Jack el 'Guapo' fue uno de los grandes exponentes cada vez que tenía la oportunidad de comunicarse hicieron la gran diferencia en mis partidas.
