Today Bioshock is known worldwide as one of the most important video games in gaming and also influential in the medium, there is no doubt that this franchise is incredible and that it is supported by a large community of gamers passionate about Bioshock. Its story, characters and world that they presented us made us immerse ourselves fully in the experience. I would like to talk about Bioshock this time, the first game and why it´s so good.
It all begins when our protagonist arrives, after a plane crash, in Rapture, a hidden city in the depths of the ocean created by Andrew Ryan, who sought to create a civilization without the political and social restrictions that were on the surface and giving the possibility for its inhabitants to expand their physical and mental capacities, while distancing themselves from any trace of humanity they had, without being able to go back.
Bioshock is a FPS game with touches of survival horror so we´ll have to fight agains´t the enemies of the game in order to survive. As for the confrontation with the enemies, they will simply attack us in the most brutal way that can be done, sometimes in groups, sometimes alone.
You have to be careful with the enemies, and above all not to be too confident. We simply have to know how to respond before they attack us, although in certain situations we have to be very attentive, because they know this world and we do not, which, added to the low visibility, causes us to be in tension in some parts off the road.
The plasmids will be one of our main weapons throughout the game and to explain without giving much spoiler, it could be said that they are genetic improvements created through ADAM. It is based on replacing normal cells with stem cells capable of becoming any type of tissue through genetic "recombination", providing varied abilities.
There are many types of plasmids in the game so there is quite a variety. We will also have firearms to attack our enemies, it is easy to switch between plasmid and firearm, just by pressing a key or button. But be careful, you can run out of plasmid so take into consideration how much you are going to use.
Likewise, we will find different objects that can attack us and security cameras that will detect when we cross in their field vision for more than a couple of seconds warning them to attack us, so it is better to hide well from these elements, because they can do us a lot of harm, directly or indirectly.
These devices can be hacked to help us by attacking our enemies or warning us. Likewise, some machines or safes can also be hacked to obtain resources. For the hack, we will be offered a fairly entertaining classic game in which we will have to build a pipe from the beginning to the final piece that they indicate with the different pieces of pipe that are available on the panel before the water overflows, And lose a little life We can try as many times as we want, and the most difficult thing to do is to open the safes, which always contain good material.
When advancing through this city we will have a map that can guide us, giving us the data of the immediate objective that we have to meet and the place we will go. Sometimes an arrow will even guide us around the stage. So it is not too difficult to find the way.
Along the way we will find newspapers that the inhabitants of Rapture have left. Some will be important to follow the story (the ones with a golden glow) and others will simply give us more information about Rapture's past or some hidden secrets.
Through the game we can find different machines that can be quite useful since they can configure certain attacks that we have at hand or from doing things like increasing the health bar of our protagonist to buying ammo, we can also find a certain machine that it will revive us, being like a checkpoint. It will not be difficult to find these machines since they are scattered around the stages, but remember not to be abusive with the utensils that we have on hand such as ammunition, which could easily end if we are not pending.
The atmosphere of the game is very dark and sinister that sometimes makes us feel tense, because we find ourselves in situations in which we do not know what is going to come or where since we hardly see anything, but chilling sounds are heard all over the place. parts. I think this is by far one of the best aspects of the game, it achieves to make a wonderful atmosphere thanks to the sounds of the environment.
Graphically it looks amazing for being a fairly old game, the level and character design is also spectacular, with many good details that are nice to see. There are some remasters that allow us to make the most of this section and enjoy the best graphic experience.
Bioshock is one of those games that at the end they stay in your mind forever or for a long time. My personal experience with Bioshock was wonderful and all the aspects that I mentioned before make the experience quite unique, which despite being an FPS, manages to express that feeling of claustrophobia and loneliness in that aquatic world. I have no more to say, the game is a marvel that should be played by everyone, it should be used now that remasters can be played, making the game look better than ever.
