Riot Games canceled its first private event for VALORANT earlier this month due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). We recently learned that this event has been moved and that it will only take place online, according to esports journalist Rod "Slasher" Breslau.
This online event will look like a closed beta version limiting its access to many e-sports players, streamers and YouTubers who were originally supposed to be on site at the first event.
Riot Games sent an email to all participants indicating that the company is working hard on a "digital solution that will allow you to get your hands on the game from your home with a suitable game configuration". And things could start today with new images, according to Slasher.
"The previously scheduled Riot private beta event with major esports professionals, streamers and youtube creators that has been postponed due to the coronavirus will run as an online event from tomorrow to Sunday "- said Slasher.
Valorant developers Anna Donlon, Joe Ziegler, Sal Garozzo and Trevor Romleski will show participants the game to start the weekend and players will also have the opportunity to confront and capture images against Alpha testers on Saturday and Sunday.
Slasher said the event will not be broadcast live, but the footage will be released in the coming weeks with a pending date of April 3 set by Riot.
This could cause us to receive an announcement for the closed beta around the time the Alpha sequence is released. Certain changes to the VALORANT website already indicate that a closed beta is in progress.
