Hello again!

Here @bellorin007

With a succulent new post!

Let's go! Another post after I shook off the laziness of writing, I've been playing Age Of Empires (the first one) a lot since my last post I was riddled with projectiles, I have tried different difficulties but the curve is too steep so if I put it on the moderate difficulty which is the default setting the machine is very very powerful while if I lower it just one step to the easy difficulty I find it very bearable especially the process of gathering resources and going after the other civilizations which I find far away from the I think this is by far the stage where everything can go wrong because you have to be constantly planning where the resources go so that if at some point something fails we have enough numbers to recover quickly (which does not happen if you play on a higher difficulty because the machine is broken).

I was hoping that I already had enough training to know exactly how to start building my empire so let's start, to give you some context of the setup of this game there are 5 civilizations on the map, the initial resources are quite scarce so it is very important to go out hunting and foraging (food = more troops/villagers), also from the beginning there are several forests where you can get enough wood and I in this case I built a subway warehouse right next to a forest that I had nearby for the villagers to collect faster (wood = more buildings), the first minutes of the game were peaceful, I could collect a decent amount of resources and build the first 2 main buildings to level up, a barracks, which is practically useless later, and a barn that works to store food, so we move to the next stage!

Era of tools

The new era unlocks a couple of new constructions but here I'm only going to highlight two of them, the stables and the archery, which allow me to train two of the crucial troops in these moments of the game when things get serious and the attacks start, in particular the archery allowed me to train troops that attack from a distance, something very useful when you face ground troops. I also trained some scouts on horseback that work well for mapping the area and discovering new resources, I was able to discover my next objective: a mine of stone and gold that will be two of the most important resources to improve my arsenal.

I was also able to build a market and thus unlock another new construction (and this one is going to save my life) the farms, which produce food if I put some villagers to work them, as I hunt the animals on the map the amount of food available is decreasing and the farms are an element that changes everything because now I can produce my own food near the central square, which is very convenient if I want to have large amounts of food to create more troops or villagers, more farms means more food so at this point I had enough food, I had made a couple more villagers to double the production of wood and also start chopping some stone, which is one of the most important resources if I want to make the construction that will protect my entire civilization in the future, the watchtowers are the next big step to take to be able to defend more effectively.

To unlock the watchtowers first you have to do one of these secondary missions where you investigate and unlock the construction through the barn, something that seems strange but just a few minutes later we already have the construction unlocked and I started to build like crazy watchtowers all around my town, apart from providing extra protection by means of attacks with arrows also expanded my vision of the map enormously, suddenly there were many areas that I could see clearly and even planned an attack on some neighboring houses, you know first to be safe before sorry and I do not like to see my enemies buildings near me.

Bronze Age

As I said all you need to level up is to have enough food and have at least 2 constructions of the current period, I more than met these two requirements so I upgraded once I could, these improvements radically increase what I can build and what troops I can train besides adding new power ups that I can buy with materials, in this case I really wanted to increase as much as possible the battle stats of my troops, I could also get some power ups that unlocked other troops with mounts that are ideal if I plan to attack another civilization (speed is everything) plus I also started spamming another very important construction, the machine shop.

The machine shop essentially allowed me to create another set of troops, the catapults, which work wonders to kill villages at long distance away from enemy arrows, this type of troop cost quite a lot of stone so I had to expand a little further south where the silver mine was besides increasing my amount of villagers to start mining the resource, I also increased the amount of guard posts along my perimeter to know before anyone else if any attack is executed, I have several piles of each of the resources except one that will be very important to summon the troops that I lack in my arsenal to finish with the others: the wololo priest.

For those who know it know that an army of these monsters can finish with all of them easily, I can convert the opposing troops to fight on my side and in fact there is an improvement that I still do not get that improves the priest to transform enemy buildings in their own, but before building any of these temples something unthinkable happened, in spite of all my defenses a couple of enemy troops attacked my town, in their troops they had nothing that I could not control with my cavalry and my catapults although I did not calculate an error on my part, the catapults have activated the friendly fire so that each projectile launched damages my troops as the enemy ones, even so I managed to repel the attack.

This is a little of what happened in my hour playing, sorry if the screenshots do not reflect the most exciting moments of this expedition but I got caught up in the excitement and basically forgot to take pictures of several moments that I consider important, in the same way I am already testing my account in 3speak to upload gameplays and thus save me these posts explained, that's all for now, thanks for visiting my fourth post! and if you like age of empires follow me and invite me to play!

Anyone who wants to play multiplayer with me?

I would like to play on a Hive server!

There are a lot of boomers here, but I don't think there will be a Hive server of AOE, lol.

Why not? that will be cool lol

I've never finished playing AOE but I'm readding this to my list of games to play lol. Also unsure if a Hive server is possible... Most of them are playing Elden Ring right now haha

I only play the random maps and custom games, I find the campaign a bit tedious to be honest.

Thank for this nice reminder of one of the best Strategy Games ever. AOE II was probably better but still did not manage to have the same level of influence on me :-)

Thanks for passing by! dont forget to follow me I'll do the same :)
