Wow.... after battling taxes and reporting, I'm finally (mostly) out the other end a able to get back to writing again... and seeing as I'm in an anti procrastination mood (and stuck on a bus for the next three hours...), I've decided to follow through with catching up on the Humble Bundle backlog!
I'm in the right year, and fast catching up... even though there is a looming monthly drop coming soon!
So, time to peek at the March 2025 Humble Bundle monthly drop! And it looks like it was a good one!
Pacific Drive
Homeworld 3
Wild Hearts
Tales of Kenzera: Zau
Gravity Circuit
Sir Whoopass: Immortal Death
Racine
Cavern of Dreams
Leading the pack is highly acclaimed Pacific Drive.... I've been wanting to get this driving survival game for ages! But I had dutifully held off, as I couldn't really justify adding to my Steam backlog (not that that has ever stopped me...). This is one rare game that picks up positive reactions from industry, artistic, and audience sources... lots of awards and great player reviews! I'm definitely keeping this one for myself... perhaps for the long bus rides? It is playable on Steam Deck, but that label is often a mixed bag, but it won't hurt to try it out!
Next up... Homeworld 3! I love the Homeworld series, it is the closest to my Battlestar Galactica space fantasy as I will get at the moment... but for some reason, I keep starting the games and then just stopping... I remember playing the original Homeworld however many decades ago... and then just stopping! Since then, I've started it a few times.. and the same. No idea why, but I will live in hope and claim this one for myself!
WILD HEARTS (all caps????)... seems to be a take on the Monster Hunter genre. It sort of looks impressive, nice visuals and all... but I'm not sure that this is the sort of game that really gets me going. I had tried the Monster Hunter series a while back, but it wasn't my thing. This does look a little bit different, but I do wonder if it is more do with the pretty eye candy rather than the actual gameplay. So, I think I'll pass on this.
Tales of Kenzera is a nice looking platformer... and that would be great if I liked platformers, but I'm really not into that genre. I struggle to connect with those, and they are much better suited to controller type devices rather than my favoured Keyboard/mouse scheme. So, a bit of a pass on this one as well!
Gravity Circuit... retro pixel graphics as a platformer. Two strikes from me... nope!
Sir Whoopass... well, these "humour first" sorts of games are a bit of red flag for me. It is sort of like the person who has to telegraph how funny or weird they are. It just ends up being a sort of try-hard label, and tends to be more tedious the longer you are around them. So, nope...
Racine does look quite unique... again, that retro graphics style, but as an autobattler/strategy/deck-building game. I'm sort of tempted with this one... but in the end, I have so many deck-building games that I'm not likely to end up playing this as they tend to be a bit of an infinite loop sort of game that I'm trying to limit after weaning myself off League of Legends and Counterstrike.
Lastly, Cavern of Dreams... a cute looking 3D platformer... looks a bit dated, and this is the sort of thing that my kids would love, but on the Switch!
