Today I want to take a trip down video game memory lane and show you guys a game called Time Killers.
In this threespeak video I try and make as much progress as I can while trying out different characters.

The first time I ever saw this game was in an arcade in a local caravan park in around 1994.
Time Killers was one of the first ever games to use weapons and feature death moves. Players can cut the arms and heads of their opponents mid fight...
The game was originally released in the arcades in November of 1992 just a few weeks after the original Mortal Kombat.
Time Killers was designed to be like Street Fighter 2 which had been ruling the arcades since February of 1991 but with added weapons, more blood, violence and of course death moves.
In 1993 SNK released the first Samurai Shodown game which was similar but overall superior and more popular than Time Killers, which left this title to be forgotten. A true hidden gem waiting to be discovered by folks that love early 90s gaming nostalgia :).
I always loved the idea of the characters being from different time periods rather than from different countries. The characters have been hand picked by Death himself to fight until there is one character remaining. That character gets to challenge Death himself for a shot at Immortality.
So here we get to play as everything from cavemen from 20000 BC right up to Space Mantis Aliens from 4002 AD.
Ok so now that we know a bit about the history of the game lets meet the cast of characters...
First up is Rancid a chainsaw wielding punk from the year 2024...Rancid was framed for a series of murders known as the X Murders in New Chicago.
Next we have Orion...A plasma sabre wielding space fugitive from the year 2885.Orion is on the run after escaping from the police. He had reported and alien attack that left no evidence and became the main suspect.
Next we have Thugg a caveman from 20000bc .He wields a stone axe and led a fierce and bloody battle against a reptilian alien race known as the Troglodytes, who were harvesting humans as cattle for food and slavery.
Next on the roster is sir Wulf , A heroic knight from the medieval ages. His family was murdered by Count Morbid, who tried to conquer England before he was destroyed by Wülf. He is supposedly based on King Arthur, even hailing from Camelot, England and wields the legendary sword known as Excalibur.
Leif the Viking is up next ,Leif carries a large battle axe. He was a constant thorn in the side of the mysterious and undead legions of the Black Army, led by Black Thorn, who aspired to take over the world.
Next up is my favourite character here Musashi , a Samurai from feudal Japan who fights with a sword. Musashi is a brilliant strategist and the finest general in Japan who lost his once-undefeated army to a horrifying dragon. Musashi himself was protected by the dragon's scale he wore and travelled for many years to find it and avenge his loss. Supposedly based on Miyamoto Musashi.
Next we have Mantazz a Space mantis alien from 4002 ad who is obsessed with destroying the human race.
Lastly we have Matrix a female soldier from the future time of 3297 AD with a bionic arm in place of a limb she lost in a battle. She uses a sword made of plasma as her weapon. In her time era, all of the robots went mysteriously berserk and began to massacre humankind. She managed to defeat the Master Drone, but vanished shortly after her victory.
So now we have met our motley crew of characters hand picked from various time periods by Death himself its time to see some action!
For the first fight I went with lord Wulf thinking his 2 handed sword would give me a reach advantage....
We are facing the legendary Samurai general Musashi in Feudal Japan in 1455 AD

The first round didn't go well for Lord Wulf....pretty quickly Musashi chopped one of his arms of and slit his throat.....

Lord Wulf got revenge in round 2 and I managed to chop of both of Musashis arms!Even with no arms this legendary Samurai keeps on fighting .This scene reminds me alot of the Black Knight scene from Monty Pythons Holy Grail..."Tis but a flesh wound!"

With both of his arms cut of and his health real low Musashi gets his head cut clean of by Lord Wulfs Excalibur Sword!Im pretty sure this is the first time I have managed to pull of a decapitation attack in this game. Its definitely the first time I have taken both of a characters arms of and then their head.

Its a victorious gaming moment, lets immortalise it forever with this screenshot!
Lord Wulfs victory was short lived....Round 3 was so short I can show you the whole round in one gif....Mushashi wins this first conflict....I didnt even get one hit in.Musashi wins ,flawless victory...ah right there's that notorious difficulty level that frustrated me as a kid...

You get points for cutting of arms and heads but Musashi still kicked my ass...
Ok time to try out some other characters...
I decided to try Rancid the chainsaw wielding punk from 2024.The first round was close...both characters took an arm from each other back to back which I found amusing...
First Musashi takes Rancids arm of...
Rancid immediately retaliates taking one of Musashis arms.... Imagine seeing this as a kid in the arcades in 1992...it would have blown my mind and made my whole day :).
Gotta love the way Rancids arm is just twitching away in the background.... :)
Shortly after losing his arm to Rancids chainsaw Musashi pulls this sneaky little move and takes Rancids chainsaw arm clean of while he is mid spin...Beautiful!
I love making gifs and these are some of the finest I have made so far...I can watch them on loop for ages. It has been alot of fun making gifs for this game :).
So round one goes to Mushashi...
I managed to take round 2 with another decapitation. I seem to be pretty good at killing it in the second round and then totally blowing it in round 3...
Round 3 was not as exciting as the first 2 rounds ,in the end the match went to Musashi again.
For the 3rd attempt I decided to check out the Viking Leif...
Round 1 goes to Musashi...
Again I win in round 2....
Leif put up a brave fight but was ultimately decapitated and Mushashi the legendary Samurai wins again...
I decide to give Musashi one more try, this time I am going to face him as.....himself!

Seemingly evenly matched its an arm for an arm in this comical ballet of swords and violence...
Ultimately I got stabbed in the eye and it was round 1 to this legendary Samurai yet again...
It seems I am the king of second round decapitations. I managed to get another decap finish here...That's 3 times I have taken this guys head and he still wont let me see stage 2!
Finally I manage to win the third round by slicing green Musashi's arms of one by one and finishing him for good!
Winner winner chicken dinner!
Ok I guess now we try stage 2...
I decided to try the Viking again, he has a cool axe spin attack...This time we are fighting Orion the Space fugitive in space the last frontier...
I managed to win the first round...Space Vikings FTW!
But then I got my ass kicked in round 2...
In round 3 I got my ass kicked so fast I can show you the whole match in one gif...I didn't even get a hit in...
I tried a few times to beat Orion the space fugitive but he kicked my ass hard.
I decided to end this post with a highlight reel of me getting my ass kicked with different character's
Looks like Orion is one badass Space Fugitive mofo...
Well guys this little nostalgia filled trip down video game memory lane has been fun but its time to call it a day.
I really enjoyed this one....making gif art from violent 90s fighting games is not a bad way to spend a Friday :
