It's sad seeing another physical device become victim to our societal need for designed obsolescence. R.I.P. Blizzard physical authenticators. I still have most of my discs and physical media, all the image files of older operating systems and their programs before the "rent instead of own" software and media era. I empathize greatly with this post and my condolences. 17 years is a great run, but perhaps it can be a fun soldering project down the line. It's a shame that you can't just change the battery on them without maintaining power to the unit. Great post, very fun read. Thanks for sharing it.
