Welcome back!

I'm on week 9 of playing dCity and as promised, Here is a snapshot of the current Presidential election.

Hopefully the current standings look a little funny to you. There are a few oddities. One is that @xxxxxxxxxx is winning with 28 votes while @ecoinstant has 112. It might also seem that x has a disproportionately large percentage of the vote. With a little math we find that its about 42%! Holy crap! That is a LOT of vote consolidation under one person! That certainly helps him maintain his comfortable 25% lead. I don't know what the formula is for determining Voting Power, but Ten Exes seems to have figured out how to game the system most effectively! It will be difficult to dislodge him from the Presidential position if he does not wish to go.

Anywho, my town continues to accumulate new citizens in the form of Homeless and Immigrants. In fact, I've gotten so many Immigrants that I now have a large tile to represent a group of 10 of them!

Alas, no new conversions from my Job Center. And the population influx has led to a Popularity hit as well as a small unemployment problem

My SIM stash has re-accumulated to nearly 1000, so I'm starting to scope out how I want to expand next. I'm considering adding another Weed farm, though my WEED token growth has been slow (a little under 1 WEED per week). It seems better to specialize.

Another Art Gallery or Job Center are also on my short list. We'll see how it goes. I'm still about a week away from having enough SIM to make a purchase.

:\I mentioned in my last post that the game creator, @gerber was considering expanding the reward list to the top 400 cities. Well, the list was indeed expanded, but only to 300.

This actually makes a huge difference. To reach rank 400 I would need a population of greater than 140. That seems somewhat reasonable. My current population is 55, so I could see myself reaching 140. However, to get as high as rank 300 I need a population of 442! Over three times more and eight times my current pop! Yeah... that's probably not going to happen.

My sleepy little town forges onward, slowly expanding but always subject to the whims of the big dollar players. The virtual imitates the real!

Until next time!

Hi, I can see that you are doing well here on Hive. If you want to do even better, please try our Upvote service. Take a look at our latest post. We need more members 😉

With @xxxxxxxxxx He simply owns and holds a huge amount of SIM, vote weight is your SIM balance averaged over the last 30 days I believe. Most people backing @ecoinstant are generally building up their SIM balances to increase their vote weight. Hopefully in a few elections @ecoinstant will win.

I see. I guess my title should have been the other way around -- "He who controls the money controls the power".

The thought that it will take a few elections to even have a hope of electing someone else makes this feel even more like a joke. The President can manipulate the taxes to benefit mostly his and his allies' towns, giving them more income and voting power. Seems like it would be difficult for anyone else to gain control.

The good thing is he probably only controls around 20% of the vote weight at the moment, and one can always purchase more SIM to boost as well which I think is what @xxxxxxxxxx did partly.

Generally to get to his power level he has to invest a huge amount of hive so it doesn't come without it's risks, Also I like the fact that this consistent control over the presidency has driven people to save up and fight back. Dictatorships never last.

Some of my friends have started playing this game. I currently play SPLINTERLANDS, but I would like to try another game... a second game to play. Thanks for sharing information.
